the giants don't trade tim linceum

the yankees don't trade phil hughes

the dodgers don't trade clayton kershaw

clay bucholz? he's touchable in deals.

I don't understand your point.  The Sox have made it very clear they don't want to move Buchholz unless they get wowed with a deal.  So thay would make him untouchable.  And besides this year Phil Hughes was straight ass cheeks.  And his nice season was out of the bullpen, not starting.  While Buchholz showed stretches this season where he proved what the hype is about.  I really don't understand your point.  Would it be too much trouble to ask you do a better job of conveying it more effectively ?

You know who didn't have a good season until they were 25 ?

Tom Glavine and I would say he went to have a half way decent career.

Chris Carpenter also says hello.  He didn't tap into his potential until he was 29  :o

BTW when did a 4.75 ERA, 1.544 WHIP, and several miles off your fast ball become whats hot in the streets ?

if you want to sit there and wait on the "prospects" to develope, go ahead

the yankees got it right - you go after what you need in FA to win NOW, not 5 years from now

Buchholz showed signs this season.  And the Sox signed Lackey and are going hard for Gonzo right now.  I would call that going for what you need to win.  And the Yanks can get whatever player they want in free agency because they can outspend every other team in Baseball by a large margin in a broken economic structure.  And I don't see what any of this has to do with what the Sox and other teams see in Clay Buchholz.

Really Hack you are doing a horrible job of conveying whatever message you're trying to get across.    Are you trying to say the Sox should just buy it year in and year out like the Yanks do ?  When it's proven no other team can.  Every team in Baseball can't afford to gut the farm system for a season or two rental like the Yanks can because the Yanks have endless resources and Seligs blessing to do whatever they want.   Are you trying to say Buchholz has no talent even though the Sox and many other teams in Baseball feel he will be a star considering every big trade that is talked about involving the Sox, Buchholz name is the center piece of the trade.  The initial argument was Buchholz has no talent, which has been proven false by his demand in every trade talk the Sox are involved with.

Without a doubt... I would say Gonzo >>> Pretty much any two prospect combo in Baseball.  Can you imagine the numbers he could put up in a decent hitters park with a decent line up around him ?

if you had a lineup of Pedroia/Youk/Gonzo/Vic-Martinez?

that'd be a great top 4

(granted not nearly as good as Jeter/Granderson/Arod/Tex

i think Bucholz can do better in the NL West than the AL East - this is for sure

but I still don't see why Red Sox fans have such a hard-on for him and try to raise his value because of one no-hitter he threw as a rookie lol

and Ellsbury's 2007 was clearly an aberation...he's a .300 hitter who can't walk to save his life - but plays solid D and is a great base stealer

Quite the opposite last year.  By the numbers he was the worst defensive center fielder in baseball with a UZR of -18.6.

peavy - gone
gonzo - pretty much gone (sooner or later)
