“Ice Cube is the blueprint for hip-hop. You’ve got LL Cool J, Dr. Dre, Russell Simmons–you can name a bunch of people, but a rapper doing the most that can be done for entertainment, Ice Cube did it. He’s produced, directed, made films, made songs you can party to, he stood up to New York media not giving enough love to west coast artists. He was brave enough to do that. And had he not been brave enough to leave N.W.A. his life might have been MC Ren’s life. He went from N.W.A.–where Dre may have been the backbone but Cube was a genius with that microphone–to becoming a star by himself. When he took that role in Boyz n the Hood he never looked back! Cube’s always been my personal hero.”

and stupid. ren had a decent career.
besides, why pay tribute to a rapper, when you're bringing down another one?

yeah that was uncalled for...I see what Short was trying to say though, you can't compare Cube and Ren's careers but as far as ability Ren has always been underrated IMO

I get Short's point though, as harsh as it maybe. Ren is, has been, and will always be in that NWA shadow or legacy. Out of everyone minus Eazy he was the most loyal to the situation and the group, good or bad. When it became "fashionable" for a reunion, I bet all of them would say the one person that would not say no to it was Ren. Ren did try to step out and do his own thing and had one successful album with Ruthless 4 Life, but even in the title what does that tell you? Ruthless. If nothing else Ren is loyal. Not a bad thing persay.

i wasn't emotional, too short is right that cube was/is more successful, i just thought it was a strange negative way of giving someone props.
as if he assumes that ice cube has a better life.

off course, it's the truth.
