Shade Sheist Speaks On Eminem Rift - 19 April, 2003 By : Rud
In a recent Baby Ree Entertainment Press Release Shade Sheist explained the 'negative energy' between himself, Damizza and Eminem. Although the conflict has not currently attracted national attention, some shots were made when Shade and Damizza recorded a track ["Betta Watch"] over the 50 Cent "In Da Club" beat where Sheist details an event involving Eminem being "jacked" for his watch inside the offices of Power 106 in L.A. Shade Sheist made a recent appearence at the premiere of "Malibu's Most Wanted" in Hollywood and was said to have been overheard explaining to a reporter that the movie was the real '8 Mile' story, and that he thought the film should've starred Eminem. He went on to state that Eminem's beef with Ja Rule was "an obvious contradiction in all rights"

He further explained : "How are you gonna criticize another artist for trying to be like Pac but every dis record you make is a Pac rip either by style, flow, or beat? Hail Mary? Hello, who's trying to be Pac here? When he had beef with Everlast he remade 'Hit em Up.' Every time he attacks another artist he tries to emulate Pac's whole character, from his personality to his lyrical delivery. Doing a song with Pac is one thing, I mean I have a song with Pac myself, but stealing the man's legend is offensive."

When Shade Sheist was asked about the 'diss record,' "Betta Watch" he laughed and said : "It wasn't a dis-record, it was the truth on top of an instrumental. Whatever you wanna call it, I know for a fact he (Eminem) has a copy of the record and has heard it. He hasn't responded for a reason. He fired back on Benzino, he fired back on Ja, but there's a reason he hasn't fired back on me. And we will keep that between us. Don't look forward to a dis-record war between my family and his, because it won't be much of a battle. I got too much on this guy, and even he knows it. He loves to bully other artists, and I've heard several top artists saying that attacking Em is suicide. 'Suicide' is my (real) nickname, and I never attacked him, I just told the truth. He isn't the only individual I mentioned in that record either, so don't act like I singled him out. He (Eminem) saw what I did to the other 'artist' and knows why that 'artist' hasn't retaliated. I guess he's smart. A lot of folks hate me and my style, but tap into the industry and ask them what I'm really about. I'll score when it's my time, I'm not worried. Check my history, I'm smarter than I let off. Betta Watch.

i havn't heard the track sheist was talking about, but to me it seems like shiest is just trying to jump on the dissing eminem bandwagon. lyrically eminem would destroy sheist, but on the real all this beef shit is fucking up hiphop we already learnt our lesson in 96 and 97. everyone is dissing everyone, making death threats, and in the last year we have seem more violence, jmj murdered, snoop got shot at, busta's car got sprayed with bullets, shootings around voilator , 50 cent in the news alot over ppl fearing for his safety etc. its just a matter of time before we lose another major artist. like in the ice cube song hiphop needs to chickity-check yo self before you wreck yo self

in theory i am all for battle/diss records as it tends to bring the best out of artists but ppl need to cool off for a while, cos they can't keep it on record.

i kinda went off on one then but hiphop needs to properly address these issues, i read somewhere they were talking about banning diss records to be played on radio stations i'm beginng to think its not a bad idea, cos not all artists can handle their beefs like the nas and jay z handled theirs.

iraq would just get annexed by iran

That would be a great solution.  If Iran and the majority of Iraqi's are pleased with it, then why shouldn't they do it?

the thing about sheist, i don't really see what eminem has done to provoke a diss it seems to me like hes tryna create extra publicity for himself, thats just my opinion anyway.

Shade Sheist Not Involved... Entirely.

In fact, this story has less to do Shade and more to do with the interviewer who transcribed it. It turns out that this was not an official Baby Ree Press Release, but a transcript of a radio interview conducted at the "Malibu's Most Wanted" premiere. As it seems, the interviewer added some of his own statements, and those of other artists he interviewed that evening and placed them all under a heading: 'Official BR Press Release.' I am in the process of getting some kind of confirmation from Baby Ree, hopefully the original audio of the interview. I should've waited to confirm the integrity of the story before posting (as I usually do) but I didn't think twice because of the heading. You all seem a bit too eager to criticize Shade Sheist, and half of you don't even know what you are talking about. Relying on hearsay as I did in this case, makes you sound very ignorant. Everyone calm down.

i liked it better when it was east vs. west, i didn't like the fact that we lost 2 of the greatest rappers of all time but there was more collaboration. now we got too many damn beefs and too many camps so there is less collaboration including producer and artist
