classic overlooked westcoast cd....
« on: May 03, 2002, 09:20:49 PM »
i think one of the most unappreciated, overlooked cd's from the west is "get in where you fit in". Now i know a lot of times it seems like too short raps about the exact same shit  on every song ...pussy this, fuckin, suckin, whatever. but this cd has fuckin great production from ant banks, (who is also hella overlooked) and some straight up classic songs. I'm a player is an absolute classic track. no denyin it. just another day has thaf perfect west coast wa wa guitar and that high pitched whistle thats tight as fuck. shit anyways i could give a review of the whole thing but this isn't the place and i know that. i just wanted to see if yall felt the same way i do about this album. peace

Definitely a personal classic. Every song on there bangs. Too $hort is one of the most underrated legends in the game. People always overlook his influence on hip hop. I was glad to see Rap Pages list him as one of the greatest MC's ever. My older bro is a die-hard fan so I have listened to all his albums and I thought most of them were at least near classic.

I never have heard this Short album. What was the first and/or second single/s that were put out from it? Who makes some special appearances?

"I'm A Player" was the first single. All his homies from the Dangerous Crew make appearances.

..:This is also one of the most Slept on West coast cd's:..

Da Lench Mob (1992)

"Guerrillas in tha mist"

This cd had it all, Gangsta political, hard hittin' + "Vintage Ice Cube" apperences....whoa!!!
It's a no-brainer on this lp.
It has all the ingredients of a classic lp.
It even has the voice of a sure fire west coast legend in the making who never got the chance to show what he truly can do...J Dee. (Prison is a bitch!!!)

They deff, stepped outta the mist of Ice Cube's shadow on this lp.....a Defo must have.

IMO
deff one of my top 10 cd's of all time (Hip-hop)

Peace

one of the most slept on cd's is Ray Luv's second album called Coupe D'Etat. This album is an underground classic. A must to have IMO.
