In dutch, I don't like saying "cancer" all the time, it's a lame word and way overused. I only use that in special emergency cases, as in when I'm really pissed off 

You shouldn't compare the word "retarded" to the dutch word for "cancer" though, because calling someone a retard isn't even half as bad as cursing them with cancer imho. I mean, in dutch, you'll also use the word "retard". Would anyone make a fuss about that? I think not. Maybe our insultings are just harder than the english insultings? No one would care if you call someone a "mongool" (retard).
