i think that east coast is going to stay very commercial.....alot of bling bling rap will be coming out from there.....hell even nas talks about bling bling and hoes....u cant deny that "the ice the women"...and various other lines....but i believe he will fade out....as will jayz and rocafella.....shabaam sahdeeq will be one the shining lyrical stars.....the jersey scene will finally get out of nys shadows....outsidaz will lead the way and help them prove to the world...alchemist(though hes west coast) will be the hottest(like he isnt right now) ticket in the east coast...just like premo people will be using alchemist like crazy...

I think Stillmatic is going to do what Illmatic did, influence the rest of the East. Nas I guess has his crown back from what my friends in the east are saying. But I think a bigger star is on the rise. Maybe someone we know, maybe not. But just like KRS was on top, and along came Rakim, or Nas the first time and then Biggie, someone layed down the foundation, and someone else build the house. The eastcoast cycle. DMX to Ja Rule, Sugar Hill to Run DMC, KRS to Rakim, Nas to Biggie, maybe now it's Jay-Z to Nas. But at the time we are at right now, the foundation is layed for someone to run with it and build the house.

I think the east got a grip of ill emcees, but at the moment their looking for a new or young cat to lead a new generation of Eastcoast hip hop, much like Jigga and Nas did back in the day with RD and Illmatic.

Im looking for Beanie Sigel to step up and drop a classic, he's definately got it in him, but whether he will or not is up to him.

Also i wanna see havoc drop a solo joint, and the new Dead Prez joint should be fire. Nature + Cormega could blow up, that'd be ill...

Talib Kweli is wellon his way to being a big star. Evey time I listen to his album I feel a certain Tupac like essence about him.

i think the evolution of eastcoast hip-hop is developing more conscience rap......the otha thing is as some of have pointed that the stillmatic album by nas is a part of hip-hop goin back to raw skillz and the essence of hip-hop  which is true....i think rakim's album will b the gateway to hip-hop's essence and will throw down how hip-hop has evolved into the ultimate art form.......i think by rakim linkin up wit dre this will mos def change the face of hip-hop......and once again every mc that comes out will once again b measured to ra......this return of ra is similar to when jordan made his 2nd comeback.......holllllllllllllllla
peace

Honestly, peeps like WU,Gangstarr and other lesser commercial artist will still be going strong. We better get use to Ja,DMX,Fabolous etc..... cause as long as there is radio these guys will be on top of album sales.

The Westcoast looks alot more promising though

[L.O.C.]

How ?

Last three major westcoast releases:

Tha Eastsidaz - "Duces N' Trayz" - Barely gold
Nate Dogg - "Music & Me" - Under 500.000 copies sold
Warren G "The Return Of The Regulator" - Probably under 100.000 copies sold

(US figures)

It don't look too promising to me...  :-/
