hey ... when it comes down to it ... it seems like you are going to get a 600cc regardless.. so the big 4 are the Honda CBR 600RR, Yahmaha R6, Suzuki GSX-R 600, and the Kawasaki ZXRR (636)..... now performance wise they all have there lil benefits here and there but honestly they are all soooooo Competitive that it really doesnt matter... base it on what you like the most....

back to the other stuff ... if your going to get a license i suggest you take the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course.... its is worth it... it cost you about 200 bucks but the best part is that they teach you alot of things... and the best part is that if you pass the class you will not have to take the (Skills/Driving/Riding) test at the DMV only your written test... (this is in Cali btw)

where are you from?? here is a link to the MSF site...

http://www.msf-usa.org/

check that out and register and take a course as soon as possible... best thing i ever did before i got my bike...

lastly i have a 2005 Honda CBR 600RR .. again i bought it because of looks mostly but i am in love with it... especially the under the seat exhaust....and i love the HONDA now i will prob always stick with Honda at this point...

Yahmaha just redesigned he R6 so it would be a nice pick up... but Honda is supposed to totally redesign the CBR next year and from what i hear its supposed to be the shit!.....

as far as payments im not sure but check out some online payment calculators... like this one http://www.finaid.org/calculators/loanpayments.phtml

or you can search for "Payment Calculators" or something similar on google...

i got my bike financed through my Credit Union at 6% for 5 years and i am paying $175 a month even tho im really paying $300 a month just to pay it off faster... i put nothing down....

now as far as prices... you are going to go to alot of places looking for the bike and they will try and tax you for freight , and all shipping and all kinda of shit.... i would not pay more than $9,500 for the R6 and would try to get it at $9,000 very possible... i got my bike for $8,900 after everything that was the out the door prices... that included tax registration freight everything.... i got it at an excellent moto dealer in Inglewood called LA Honda .... if you looking for a HONDA GO to that place... Again where are you from??

and lastly here are some pics of my bike if you havent seen it already...

let me know if you have any other questions

gettin a motorcycle license (M1 Endorsement on your license) is pretty much the same as when you got your drivers license... you have to take a written test... followed by a skills/driving test.... if you successfully pass both you will be awarded your M1 endorsement on your license.... now i would suggest you follow the link i gave you up above because you just said you have never been on a bike... TAKE THE COURSE! ... you will learn so much and you will ride their bikes to learn better than droppin your brand new bike... and if you pass the course you will bypass the skills/driving test at the DMV... so all you would have to do is pass the written... what i suggest is that you sign up for the course and go to the DMV pick up a motorclye booklet to study and take the written exam now... passing the written exam will give you  your permit... so you can ride during the day on the streets... it prohibits you from riding on the freeway or at night and you cant carry any passengers until you get your license....so once you pass your course all you have to do is take the slip they mail you to the DMV and Bam! you got your license....

now besides all that you are going to pay for the bike remember its not like a car that all you do is jump in on your new car and are ready to go... you will have to invest on some gear.... get yourself a Jacket helmet and gloves at the least! jackets range from $200 to $500 bucks ... helmets can range from about $100 to $600 bucks and gloves you can get from anywhere between $35 to $200 bucks...

i would suggest you get yourself a leather jacket for more protection but you can also get a Mesh one that breathes better during the hot days...

*knock on wood* i have had my bike for over a year now and have not gone down or dropped it *knock on wood* and i think alot has to do with me taking that course and learning the basics and advanced shit that people that have been riding all their lives didnt even know we had some veteran riders there takin that class and even they were like "i didnt know that" type of mentality...

im assuming you know hot to drive and have your drivers license .. now a quick question ... do you drive a Manual transmission (Stick Shift) or now how too?? because a bike is the same thing... you have your clutch on the left hand and you have your gears on the left foot 1st gear is down once click nuetral is between 1st and 2nd and the rest are up til 6th gear... like this...

throttle is on your right hand along with your front brake and your rear brake is on your right foot......

i would start learning how to drive stick a bit before i jump on a bike if you havent done so... to learn the concept of how a CLUTH works...

remeber its not a car you are on 2 wheels and that bike can easily fall over if you dont know what you are doing .... so becareful...

and if you do get the bike... the sportsbike community is very friendly and helpful to one another... you will always see them saying hi to each other or a hand gesture or wave to each other as they pass by each other... so dont be afraid of that... very cool people....

hit me up if you have anymore questions... and i have a 600RR so i would suggest you get one! lol haha the bias in me... but hey to each his own i personally would stick with HONDA or YAHMAHA i really dont like Kawi or Suzuki

the way i see it tho... Suzuki (would you drive a Suzuki car? lol) ..... Yahmaha (would you want to ride a bike made by a Piano Company?? lol )  hahah lol jk

let me know how it all goes and if you do get it let me know we can go riding ... we roll deep sometimes on the weekends so youd see a 30 bike group sometimes tearing up the freeways ... stunting wheelies and everythings...
