« on: September 05, 2008, 04:33:15 AM »
I got this interview from WCA-Mods no  sure where to post this, please feel free to move it to it's appropriate section-thanks!

******************************************************************************************************
Up and coming producer, Maestro Minded took time out of his day to discuss his production career with West Coast Aftershock. He's worked with rappers such as Kurupt, Yukmouth, 40 Glocc, and last but not least Young Buck. You may have heard his track "There Will Be Blood" on XXL's audio page. You can listen to that by clicking here. We want to thank and send a shoutout to Maestro Minded for giving us a dope ass interview. Here's to you main man! Be sure to support up and coming producers like Maestro because unlike most of the old people; he's bringing something new to the game. - Signed Kilo2/DTG

DTG:

I'm here with famous producer Maestro Minded, tell us a bit about yourself and your career main man.

Maestro Minded:

Hi, I'm Maestro Minded. I represent Large Money Entertainment (LME), which is a Swedish/American production label with focus on west coast music. Through LME I've had the opportunity to work with artists such as Young Buck, Kurupt, Yukmouth, 40 Glocc, Brotha Lynch Hung, Prodeje and more. But I'm still working my way up & I'm looking forward to even more collaborations in near future.

DTG:

What made you get into the music industry and production?

Maestro Minded:

I've always liked music. When I was a kid I used to listen to everything from Beatles and Curtis Mayfield to Michael Jackson.  Growing up in the early 90’s, I was into west coast hip hop because of the way the genre was influenced by funk and soul. I started making beats when I was 13 and already then my aim was to make funky non sampled west coast jams. I started to produce because sometimes when listening to the tracks, I thought that the beat would be better if it had this or that. Eventually I tried to do it myself.

DTG:

If you could produce for one artist and colaborate with one producer who would they be?

Maestro Minded:

There are a lot of good rappers in the music industry, past and present, but the day I produce a track for Snoop Dogg or Dr Dre that’s featured in an official album, I’ll feel like I won’t be able to top it. Why? Because those two got me into rap. I used to listen to rap even before, but they made rap music my main genre.  When Doggystyle came out, I played the tape until it got damaged.

DTG:

Hahaha. If you had to define your beats, what would you define them as?

Maestro Minded:

West coast gangsta beats! There's no doubt about where my main target is. I find west coast beats funkier than other genres. Melody wise, you’re free to express yourself, almost like when you’re producing an R&B beat.  I see myself though as a versatile producer. I produce beats for west, east and dirty south rappers. I also produce R&B beats and even a small amount of classical compositions.

DTG:
That's nice. Variety is something most producers lack these days. You and Young Buck hit XXL's site the other day. How did you hook up with Buck and how did your stuff hit XXL? Also, what inspired that particular beat?

Maestro Minded:

It’s all about Large Money Entertainment. We’re like Sweden’s portal to American hip hop. Lately, we’ve been dropping bangers to a lot of people and we’re just widening our network.  We only produce heaters, which puts us in a good position when it comes to collaborations. Young Buck listened to a couple of beat and was feeling two of mine.  How it came out in XXL, I actually have no idea. I must be doing something right though cause I just heard that the track is everywhere on the net. It’s hard to explain how I was influenced to produce that beat. Sometimes, I can produce an entire beat in my mind in 10 min. I just knew how everything should be.

DTG:

Out of all the artist you have worked with, which have you enjoyed working with the most?

Maestro Minded:

Kurupt, because his like a legend for me. He’s dropped some verses that can’t be touched, even now. I remember back in the days, me and this other guys we’re the only one in the entire school that used to listen to Tha Dogg Pound.  Tough times then, haha.

DTG:

Haha. I feel you. Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

Maestro Minded:

Hopefully, on the top of the food chain, haha. I’m where I am today because I’ve always set high goals. My motto is: Aim at the moon and see where you’ll land. Obviously it’s a tough industry, but I’m feeling like I got much more to push forward.

DTG:

For sure, I want to thank you for taking time out of your day to speak with me. If we want to peep your music where should we hit, what words do you have for the fans, and anyone you want to give a shout out to?

Maestro Minded:

Thanks for the interview. For my music, you can always find new collabos on myspace.com/maestrominded. I got some new stuff with Bad Azz and Young buck coming up, so check it out. I also got maestrominded.com coming up really soon, which will have updates with new dope beats regularly. I wanna give a shout of for everyone in LME, especially Chubby, I appreciate all his work. I also wanna give a shoutout for Westcoast Aftershock, one of the pioneers in west coast news on the net.

DTG:

We want to give a shoutout to you too main man! Haha.
