Im looking for protection and a nice design doesnt hurt.

I went to bestbuy today and picked up some fake leather one that came with a thin plastic cover for the front, which was a bitch to apply and left air bubbles so i took it back.

Is there anything better out there?

i have a diamanti case on my iphone 3gs. they go for like 15-20 bucks on ebay but I went through four bid wars for the mother fucker and got it shipped for $6 bucks. the case is fucking great because it's not fully silicone so it doesn't stick to the inside of your pocket and looks dope imo. they come in all different colors but i thought the clear looked dope on a white iphone

what are jailbreak apps?

since apple is so assholish when it comes to customizing the iphone, a few development teams have come up with a solution to access the iphones file system and effectively allowing you to do whatever the hell you want. they dubbed it "jailbreak"

jailbreaking your iphone is quite simple but can be a pain if you have a certain iPhone 3GS (with an updated bootrom that for now isn't fully cracked and a tethered jailbreak is the only option available). if you have an iphone 3GS you should check to see if it has the new bootrom.

there are many apps that are only available if your iphone is jailbroken. adblock for safari is one example. winterboard is an app that lets you customize the look of your iPhone. there's damn near everything you can think of. plus once you've jailbroken your iPhone, you can download cracked versions of app store apps and install them on your device.

i know there's a simple way to check by looking at a few digits in your serial number but I don't know what digits they are anymore. google should help you figure it out.

if you do end up with a new bootroom iphone, i would send the thing back into apple and claim it was overheating (there are numerous news articles on iphone 3gs overheating problems) and they might ship out an older 3GS with the old bootrom

luckily for me I bought my iPhone refurbished which came with the old bootrom, software & baseband.
