Who's the King of the West
« on: February 07, 2003, 10:01:39 PM »
Here's a question for everyone. Who is the best emcee in the Westcoast right now. I think it's Snoop. I know he only has one classic album, but he always drops shit or introduces new westcoast talent, not like dre. Hopefully the Crooked i beef will fire him up again. There are other names to mention like C-bo,Brotha Lynch,Xzibit, and Tray Deee.
Nah, maybe it's the bitches and the sunshine
Fool, it's the palm trees, cool breeze and one-time
This the home of ragtops and swimsuits
We wear Chuck Taylors, nigga, we don't fuck with Timb boots!

Snoop runs shit. OUt of the three West kings in history, Ice Cube, 2Pac, and Snoop, his the only one still doing shit, 'cause obviously 'Pac is dead and Cube was in movies for along time. Anyways, it's Snoop, his the head name in the West, and brings out new talent.

Latest Releases from Dogghouse & Snoop:

Dogghouse Allstars
Paid the Cost to be the Boss

If this is the king of the West, I would be worried..

Thank god there's a label called Aftermath, with names like Dr.Dre, Ice Cube and so on... it might have a lot of outbound acts, but it's Westcoast-based, and the boss is from CPT.
Dre could might have saved PTCTBTB.. and Snoop proved that he isn't ready for making solo-albums without Dre.
I can not in any way see Soopafly, Kokane, LaToyia or E-White going more than Gold.. at best.

Dre & Snoop is by far the biggest on the West, but as far as sales & reputation goes, Snoop is Dre's protege.. STILL.

I agreed with you until you mentioned Aftermath.  Aftermath is not going to bring the west coast back.  Although Cube and Dre are legends, they along with Snoop should step back and let the younger cats shine.  Xzibit had the chance to be the King of The West, but his album was a little dissapointing.  Crooked I is the next king, but in a year or so, look for the Young Assassins to run the west.  They impressed the hell outta me on the tracks on the Wolfpac mixtape.

There's a king who deserves to be king, it's just that the realm ain't in it's best period.

Snoop's the king. Although PTCTBTB was a disappointment, Snoop's got things going his way with his label. I have to say I admire the way he runs it: the artists get to express themselves AND they own their own masters. If there's one thing Snoop learned from his Death Row stinch, it's how to fuck artists over. He's staying away from that, and things are goin' smoothly.

Hopefully they get a good line of producers on E-White's album. I'd hate to see his shit flop. This guy deserves to be among the top doggs.

 :-\

You're talking MC-skills it seems..

"The King" is sposed to be "the ruler", the most influential.. most popular and most power..
Because that's why people see someone as a "king"..

lol mcs...no...those are who "rule"...E-40 and Too Short hold more weight in the bay than any rapper...Bo n Lynch got more clout in Sac than any rapper...etc...Snoop couldnt run shit in those cities...neither could Dre...Cube...Ren...etc...every area has a different outlook and sound...
