The beat for "U Don't Know" is probably the best beat I've ever heard, but IMO Kanye is a better all-around producer than Just Blaze.

Kanye is definitely better than Just Blaze.
Just Blaze is too busy making generic dance/club-beats with almost the same sound.

[...]

He spends too much time on bullshit like "Hovi Baby", "Pump it up", "Lollipop", "Yeah yeah you know it", "Party & Bullshit 04", "Multiply remix" and other generic clubtracks for Nelly, Chingy, Nick Cannon, Buddens, Lil Bow wow, and whoever is willing to cough up some $$$.

[...]

Just started out with making beats for Jay-Z, Beanie, Scarface, Big Pun, Killah Priest and Busta.
Nowadays he works for artists like State Prop, Nelly, Nick Cannon, Fabolous, Buddens, Mariah Carey, Bleek, Dipset, Freeway, 24K..
He took the commercial route, while Kanye does 90+% hiphop...

...Jesus Walks, Aint No Love (Heart of the City), Never Change, Guess Whos Back, Get By, Overnight Celebrity >>> Just Blaze catalog (Except U don't know, that one is Kanye caliber)...

...I would much rather hear him making some soulful knockin hiphop beats for Jay-Z, Nas, Beanie, Scarface, Royce da 5'9'', Twista, D-Block, Rakim, Jada, CNN, Redman etc., than him wasting his time on Nelly, Nick Cannon, Buddens, Fabolous, etc...

Agreed with all of that, Jome.

im really feeling both of them, i just think at the moment Just is doing too much of the kind of track Jome is talking about. Didnt he do an Alchemist recently, think he sold the same beat to Peedi Crakk and Nick Cannon...i know whos track i prefer. but i cant knock the man for trying to keep his cash straight, everybodys got to eat.

but i wouldn't say Just is more pop than Kanye, i think hes starting to be a bit overexposed at the moment, hes got so much shit floating around and not all of it is of the quality we've come to expect from him.

Just Blaze, by-far is the best commerical producer out there. The only reason why people are picking Kanye is because 2004 is simply Kanye's year, and Blaze went into hiberation. Just Blaze can do both the synth beats (Roc Da Mic) and the soul samples. Dude digs for his own samples, has no co-producers, plays his own instruments and has a variety of beats, across many artists. Right now all he needs to do is build up a bigger catalogue. Kanye is dope though.

just blaze is far more versatile than kanye. have you ever heard kanyes older material? its horrible. i remember hearing some of it on this mixtape called the high school graduate. i cant believe i forgot about blaze producing most of freeways shit too, thats probably some of his best so far. just blazes remixes on the newer s carter mixtape>all the originals. even his beat for a reebok commerical was hot. kanye better stick with the selfish type of beats. i guess he finally noticed the soul sampling is overkill.

I like both their stuff a lot, but I feel Kanye more 'cause of the already mentioned soulfulness.

I'm not feeling either. All of Just Blaze shit sounds the same and I really think that Kanye West is overrated.

I look at it like this. The job of a producer is to make a track which they think best suits the artist they are making the track for, to make the best of their talents as a rapper/singer/whatever. Just Blaze just seems to give everybody the same type of beats, whereas with Kanye he obviously tailors it for the artist as shown by the fact that when he works with Kweli you get a track like Get By and when he works with Luda you get Stand Up. Therefore I think Kanye is streets ahead of Just Blaze.
