Truthfully speaking... guest spots
« on: June 12, 2002, 08:47:06 AM »
here's a quick rundown.. we had a bit of a  :o moment with the guest on track 9! never heard he was on the album before.. and i havent seen a soul mention him!

(01) push play - DRE
(02) addictive -  RAKIM    (ok so we knew this)
(08) not really looking - QUIK! (sure its his beat too)
(09) bullshit - XZIBIT!! ( this is a shocker! )
(10) queen of the ghetto - not sure (see below)
(11) the truth - r kelly
(12) hollywood -DRE

i never heard xzibit come with a slow flow like that befo!!

btw.. the not sure one.. could be a ms sita.. she says - 'miss sita aint got nuthing but realness in her'

on the beats... theres nothing from Dre that sounds too 'stale' like some recent things have.. its sweet. i think quik did at least 2 addictive and not really looking

hi-tek defo did hollywood coz she said so when interviewed by thaformula (found that in 411 when diggin for clues - good work 'cognito)
and organised noise did 'bullshit' (same source).
something makes me think 'real' is by timbaland.

dre defo mixed the whole damn thing though... apart from maybe 1 or 2.

we'll know for sure when we ALL pick it up on june 26th (or thereabouts)

I think Dr. Dre on Hollywood, and especially R. Kelly on "The Truth" both rock.  Good guest spots.

yes it is xzibit... if you know xzibit's stuff and peep the line i highlight here - it'll clear it up.

(starts around 3:10)

if i, beat my meat instead of fuck with defeat, conceited
reach my peak without a buck of deceit, competin
took disprect and then bucked would i be complete
grew up with no luck, would i be easy to reach
would i be easier to teach if i grew up on easier streets
its easy to eat when your feeding and freezing, you feast
would you be a lot more of a beast if you had a lot less in your griefs
coz u dressed to impress does that make you much less of a beetch
if hoe's molest with their makeup smell fresher than fish
??? ??? ???is thankful you ain't no ??? fish
fucking with this will get you cracked with no less than a 5th
dont make us trip coz we would rather be blessed and split
bitch nigga - truth hurts

ho else would mention a '5th' like that... ('i could drink a whole hennessy 5th...')

damn now i've typed it out an understand it more.. shit's deep xzibit's hitting another level.

That is some deep shit... matter of fact that's awesome lyricism... reminds me of "Carry The Weight" of X's 1st LP. Man vs. Machine could be classic yall, I can't fuckin wait.

I was wondering if it was really X too when I heard it for the first time, it is though, it's just his flow is misleading, it's quite slow and not as agressive as usual.
When I first heard Dre introducing Truth on "Push Play" the shit gave me goose pimples, lol, you can tell he really believes in her and her music.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.
