The weekend I was in Paris with my uncle, he gave a lil party with bout 50 people, mostly french. And one of them was the "DJ", well he put on the music. And they were playin alotta 70s shit and some french stuff. Suddenly i hear the "My Name Is..." beat. I'm like what the hell they playin Eminem now? Suddenly this french dude starts singin!!!!!!!!! I was like ????? So I go to that "DJ" and ask him who this is. He told me its "Labi Schiffre", a french singer who died years ago. And he said that Eminem used the beat. He told me the trackname too but I was too wasted to remember it.
Anyway, ever since i've been back, I've tried to find out about this "Labi Schiffre", but can't find ANY info on him, leave alone song...
Did any of ya'll already know about this? the beat IS EXACTLY THE SAME, and i mean EXACTLY. I was like uhhhhhhhhh another one dre? After I found out about Whats The Difference bein sampled from "Charles Aznavour" not long ago, (thanks Lil Jay), this was the next surprise. I guess one day we'll find out dre ain't got one real beat lol.

Any1 got any info on Labi Schiffre? Any french site? I speak french

I don't know the title but yea I heard that track too. It was just backing music on some documentary I was watching a while ago. Dre added some stuff to it but it is VERY similar.

i have that song, i went to a site that lists samples for recent songs about 8 months ago and i saw it.  my name is sounds almost identical to it.

when i seen Sugarhill Gang live...they preformed most songs that people sampled of theirs...and My Name Is was one of them...

Dre had nothing to do with this song.  It is all Eminem & Luis Resto or whoever the co-producer is.

I really dunno about Dre's shit being legit, most of his shit is stolen from other songs with no credits given to him.....I heard "Kill U" waz some Old French Artist's beat too.....

danm dre expossed again... i love dre's beats but i keep hearin' more and more about him stillin' chit and not givin' credit where credit is due... that's fucked up, this has been goin' on since like 96... and is it just me or does eminemt l@@k like a scared lil' bitch in your sig, i ain't hatin' it just l@@ks that way to me...

O.K., O.K., lemme get somethin' straight here.  It says in the book of the album, that it samples the song..... but since yall don't know about it, It's stealing?  WTF?  Reality Check: EVERY FRIEKIN HIPHOP SONG SAMPLES SOMETHING.  good god.

i know that, hip hop was built on sampling but it's one thing if u sample a beat and another if u jack the beat and add in some chit n fuck wit it here and there... that's jackin' to me, that ain't samplin'... but if the credit was givin' for the sample then it's all good i thought he sampled it and didn't give the credit for it... i know dre's been known to take credit for chit that he didn't do or only took a small part in...
