In fact, he's a big reason that contemporary R&B sounds the way it does, because he was one of the first producers to have success with the formula he uses (R&B vocals with hip-hop beats). Check out early Michel'le shit and even World Class Wreckin' Cru. He's also done guest production more recently to great results, such as the track with Mary J. Blige, the Truth Hurts album and the OUTSTANDING work he did with Bilal.
