Why is that? muthafuckas be hatin man...fuck em...but the shit is, even most of the radio stations in da west ain't even supporting their own artists...from da same coast...wtf is goin on here? its ALWAYS been like this for years...last time i could remember when they always bumped westcoast shit was when the chronic 2001 album came out...i remember when i always bumped the radio back in 95-96...those were the good days....

btw, is it true that the guy that owns hot97 in nyc also is the owner of power106? if thats true, i could see why this bullshit is goin on...

I feel you. I hate that shit too. Its sad that u can't even hear westcoast artist on an LA station. WTF ?? I'm sick of turning on tha Radio and all i hear is Jay-z. Fuck em' That bitch is on 6 songs right now that are getting played on power and they can't even play a fuckin Quik record. I blame it on Dammizza. He's the reason westcoat artist don't sell. People will buy whatever is getting played on tha radio. If the radio is only playin eastcoast shit of course westcoast records aren't gonna sell. They need to fire Damizza and Hire Julio G to become program Director. Maybe then we will see some changes at the fuckin station. And yes Hot 97 owns Power. Anit that a bitch.

I think the east saw how the west took over before, so now they do whatever they can to keep us down, by not playin our videos or songs, by not signin west coast artists and when they do they just dick em.

The West doesn't make much radio friendly tracks. The East makes songs for clubs or girls. All the East Coast songs on the radio are pretty much trash except a few songs. When the West chooses to use that formula they get lots of airplay eg. "Beautiful". The quality isn't what it was in the 90's too.

Well the same can be said why doesn't the westcoast play their own shity and it's because (and I know from my experience dealing with radio and having my own show) Radio Stations and the conglomerates that own them hire consultants and they pick and choose what songs will garner higher listenership. Many radio stations have computers playing a show/segments entire playlist, thus eliminating a paid possition for a real body.
But most importantly, as Afrika Bambattaa once told me, that DJ's and stations are so regionalized they are afraid or can't be progressive, because radio stations lives for higher listnship and advertising dollars and if you are in a area that demographically wioll only listen to Top Hip-Pop songs, then why "ruin" it playing some music elsewhere. It's wrong, but it's big business. So alot of times it's MD's, PD's, and thir bosses who make them play what they deem as popular and will garner more advertsising dollars and listeners (Commercial Radio 101 next week....College radio, lol).

I got that XM satellite radio a few weeks back and they play the hell out of west coast music. All uncensored. No commercials. In the 2 weeks that I've owned it....I've heard Dre, Snoop, Eiht, CMW, Dogg Pound, Roscoe, Crooked I,Mac Mall, Too $hort, E-40, and a gang of others. Even heard the 50/Pac "Realest Killas". It's one thing to own the cd...you know song bout to come on....but when you hear that shit bust out on radio you go nuts. But they do support the hell out of WC music...past and present. How many radio stations you know that plays Too $hort "Dope Fiend Beats"

ya'll would blame that shit on damizza. truth be told: damizza is the one who changed the format of LA radio. if it wasn't for him, ya'll would still be listening to techno and house on the radio. everyone wants to hate on damizza, but trust me....he does his job by getting daz and kurupt and wc and dj quik on the radio. the reason east coast doesn't play west coast shit is due to record sales. ya'll would rather bootleg ur shit rather than pay $12 for a cd. it's all about record sales. start reppin' the west by buying west coast albums. start calling ur radio stations and demanding they play mausberg, quik, dre or any other west coast artist YOU like. take some responsibility for this and stop bitching. it's not damizza's fault, it's your own.
