Tha Row has some hopes of being a successful label again but IMO they will never be the power or hold the clout that they once were/did...
Just wondered what you thought.I Think a Kurupt or Danny Boy album is a must because the new era of Murder Inc/Mixtape collabo's are not cutting it for me.Kurupt could open the door for Crooked I to.
To me it breaks it down like this - There are certain things that made Death Row what it was in its heyday. They were:Dr Dre - his production, guidence and status as a figurehead for the label circa The Chronic.Snoop Doggy Dogg - the most charasmatic rapper of the early-to-mid 90s. Remember those times when every time you heard him drop a verse it was exciting?G-funk - Okay, okay. Above The Law laid the blueprint. And Warren made it his own. But Dre perfected it, especially on Doggystyle. Death Row was G-funk back there.Tupac - Death Row incarnate for a year and some change. Repped it harder than any other inmate bar none, including founding members. A sense of being more than just a label - In a good way. Death Row used to be a movement - you felt there would be nothing the label couldn't accomplish. Now there's none of it as far as I can see. It no longer has the calibre of artist, production or image that made it great. It can release as many albums as it wants, but even if it gave us, say, three solid solo albums from Crooked, Kurupt and Eastwood, you can't tell me that it will mean as much to any of you as The Chronic, Doggystyle, Dogg Food, AEOM and Murder Was The Case.Don't want to sound like I'm hating on Suge, but... nah, fuck it, I am.
hell no..... Death Row was EVERY where & they were the mainstream they had Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound, & then 2pac... now Snoop Dogg had alot of hype and sold alot of records at first and no rapper has been like that but him & 50 Cent (i guess) so i dont think so but u never kno cuz Crooked I is tite but i never heard Eastwood or the other guys.... Kurupt isnt that great nemore i liked him over the Fred Wreck beats not the Death Row beats
