did xzibit fuck up by signing with dre?
« on: February 09, 2004, 07:55:36 AM »
i was thinking about this earlier....do any of you think that xzibit fucked up by signing with dre? or do you think he should have stayed underground? personally, i think that if dre didn't pick him up, someone else would have and could have had potentially damaged him more than (man vs. machine) did. his style is drastically different from 40 dayz... to restless, although they're both dope in my opinion...
what ya'll think?

Who knows?I was wondering the same shit quite a few times. If his 3rd album would be underground, would he have some classics on it or not.I think Dre didn't fuck up Xzibit that much.U know,Restless was dope,Man vs Machine-pretty average but better than bullshit that Chingy or Nelly do.I think he's gonna come pretty hard on his next album.Cause all the songs he's doing lately a pretty good.Black Rabbit,Spitshine,Multiply Remix and other shit.I liked them all.But mainly,I liked him more when he was underground.

i prefered xzibit b4 he was with dre, but i also thaugh man vs machine was better than restless and most ppl didn't

iraq would just get annexed by iran

That would be a great solution.  If Iran and the majority of Iraqi's are pleased with it, then why shouldn't they do it?

If I'm not mistaken, Xzibit hasn't signed yet. But if he will, I think it won't be a bad move...Dre always gives that extra push 8)

dre isnt what he used to be... I dont like what's goin on around the Math any more.

nevertheless if he signs and is allowed to release an LP which isnt sure at the Math nowadays, itll be all good, if cant get worse after man vs machine (what a stupid title btw)
Cause I don't care where I belong no more

And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

I liked him more before Restless, but it ain't like his verses got wacker, Man Vs. Machine just had sum weak material on it. If he manages to drop an album on The Aftermath I think it'll be at least ok

Nahhh!!!

98% of u would have never heard of him if not.. ;)
can't hate X 4 making money.

Just remember where u come from. (Likwit..)
(That's what most people wanna say)

+ the fact that Xzibit turned gangsta shitt...
when he OG talked about staying true to one's self
& not trying to represent something that ain't u.
(Most pre-Aftermath fan's beef wit' X)

(Against the grain...most people love to hate on Xzibit)

But I loved "Restless" tho...
on the music tip (I still bump that fucken album)
Shitt hit's in the stereo..
that's all I care about^^^

ImO...

i don't think dre made xzibit worse..........xzibit did that. on the whole though xzibit's albums SOUND better. face it sonically his albums are better sounding.....all he has/had to do is write sharper and he's the best or 2nd best MC in the game .

it's not dre ruining his talent

it's xzibit not totally living up to his potential.

i mean shit look at nate dogg. he makes CLASSIC hooks and has proved he can make calssic soul songs. when he hooked up with JD an shit people started to smerk, and music and me SUCKED......but it wasn't because of the producer's beats......it was the effort Nate put into it......nate still gives classic hooks and i'm sure he could concentrate that some classic sould shit like g funk classics 1 and 2

Since he hooked up with Dre, Xzibits flow, lyrical content and beats have been worse than before their affiliation. Of course people sell better with Dre behind them, but that is more to do with his name than anything, his productions are imo average these days. Xzibit sounds much better with gritty production behind him, and that is something that Dre is incapable of producing, so signing with Aftermath would in my opinion be a stupid move for Xzibit.

i beg to differ.....man vs machine had 2 primo tracks on there (bonous cd) and they sounded no better (worse) than any of the dre and family tracks! it's xzibit's problem he's lessened his lyrical potency not dre's, mel man's, or battlecats! xzibit sounds just as "shitty" these days on a primo, and dj quik beat. god forbid how sorry he would sound with some 2nd rate underground producer.

If I remember well there was only 1 Primo beat on Man Vs Machine. And how can any1 say that Xzibits lyrics got worser.I mean, yeah,he talks more gangsta but his lyrics are still on a very high level.I think he could do good wit Dre,cause Restless was almost a classic to me.Man Vs Machine sounded good when I first heard it.Now it's just boring.Even the My Name song.I used to like Release Date and some other songs but now I can't stand listening to them. The only ones I like hearing now is What A Mess and Symphony in X Major. His last album reminds of the east coast. It has no west feelin like his other albums.Let's just hope his next album is gonna be his best album.
