He's more like the next Marvin Gaye as far as his sound goes but I know what you mean. The guy makes dope hooks. I haven't heard a bad one from him yet.

The next Nate Dogg? WTF is wrong with you Nate is still around.  Sleepy is more like the Nate Dogg of the south.  Both careers are going strong sleepy has been around a while, he's just getting recognized now.  I say he's Nate Dogg of the south.

i don't think sleepy would get strong sales without outkast featuring on at least 50% of the tracks, peace.

Don't think there's ever gonna be another Nate Dogg... There's many who can sing, but Nate got that special something in him... I can't explain it, but Nate Dogg's unique. He's got that G-Funk in him...

Nothin' wrong with Sleepy Brown though. Dude got a good voice and does good songs.

And besides - why it's always gotta be the next somebody? Why can't talents be seen as themselves but always as the next someone else? That's fucked up. "See I'm the first Hittman, you niggaz tryin' to be the next Pac." -Hittman, "Last Dayz" That's the it should be. But then there's the other side to the story - the fact that fools most often try to copy some other muthafucka, thinkin' that's the way to success...

wow. people postin in here actin like they're on their period and shit....don't worry, the post was only making a suggestion.....

i think sleepy's dope, but him and nate aren't even in the same category. they sing hooks over really different songs...i wouldn't categorize them the same, but they're both at the top of their categories in my opinion

i was just thinkin about sleepy bein similar to nate dogg, good post.. i think sleepy is just as good but he has his throwback style and nate has his own style... like jtp said before they both at the top of their respective styles... nate is one of a kind, he can make a song by his self... sleepy does need the help of outkast it seems [see aler g's post]

First and foremost, Nate Dogg's career is at the point where people are going to say, who is the next Nate Dogg. He was the westcoast hook man for over 10 years now. From Ain't No Fun, to Regulator, to All About U, Nobody Does It Better, B-Please and countless other hits, Nate has been the hookman. He has never had a platnum selling CD though, even with 2Pac, Snoop, Dr. Dre, Warren G and the Dogg Pound featured on his music. Nate is seen as just a hookman. Sleepy Brown has been around with the Dungeon  Family for a while as their hookman. His hooks are now starting to become hits. He has that hook making gift. Next Nate Dogg, maybe, like Michael Jordan, we are going to want another. Rap crews have always tried to copy the old Death Row formula. One thing that worked was Nate as the hookman. Dungeon Family has Sleepy Brown. Is he the next Nate Dogg, nah, but he is the next hookman. Nate's had along career, and I hear casual fans talk about how Nate Dogg's style isn't that great, and with the younger casual fans, they are not feeling Nate Dogg. But they are feeling Sleepy Brown. Results, songs with Nate Dogg don't sell as much, songs with Sleepy Brown do. The results is more Sleepy Brown, less Nate Dogg, and a new hookman is crown. A sad day, but we are watching it before our very eyes. Sleepy is not a bad singer, or hookman, so you can't get too mad. Hey, an 11 year run for Nate Dogg is very impressive indeed.

Nah it ain't like that. ;D Just wrote down the thoughts that came up in my head about the topic. Expression of thoughts is one of the things this board exists for, isn't it?

Sleepy's cool though. Loved his stuff that was on Big Boi's record and Roscoe's record. On those he did the two things he does best IMO - the playalistic shit and the laid back shit. He's 'sposed to come out with a solo right? (Or did that come out already?) Could be some dope shit, just needs some real melodic beats.

the reason people are always being compared to eachother is because that's the way the world works. how would you know what a lot of money is if you didn't know what a little was? everything has to be compared so we get a sense of context. the title of this topic could have also been "is sleepy brown the next kokane" or something like that, cuz we need a respective 'other' in the category to compare him against.

is iverson dope? hell yeah he's dope, but compared to say, ostertag he's a king. but compared to jordan, he ain't shit. that's why we gotta compare people, cuz it gives us a better sense of the argument....

i wasn't callin you out t-dogg, i was just sayin that people were a little to harsh on the topic starter sayin shit like 'wtf is wrong with you'
