According to the article on mtv.com Andre will play right handed and then the screen will be flipped to appear he is playing left handed, also making it look like a left handed guitar. There fore it will not be a right handed guitar played upside down like I've seen Jimi play so many times.

There's nothing wrong with that.  I'm left handed, and play guitar right handed.  If I had to play like Hendrix, I'd be fucked.  


BTW, It's actually more correct than you think.  In order for Andre to play where it appears he's playing like Jimi, after it's flipped, he'll have to play a LEFT handed guitar, flipped backwards, and strung right handed.  Jimi's headstock was upside down when he played; so for it to look right, Andre will actually have to play a lefty guitar right handed - since he's right handed naturally, he'll be playing with the same limitations (an upside down guitar) as jimi.  They actually make a guitar like that, btw, because you have to switch the bridge and nut out to get the strings to fit right... there's a hendrix edition strat that's made upside down like that, that's probably what Andre's got.  

I'd understand if Andre actually "played" in the movie, but I think its fair to say that he is going to be playing the equivolent to air guitar axcept with an actual guitar in hand, ( he'd be doing Jimi's legacy a great injustice if he really played).

Why can't he just "pretend" to play with his left hand and save a lot of editing time.

He isn't really playing, if worse comes to worse tey can always use someone else for extreme close-ups of the hands.
