Reggae & HipHop/Rap is the music i buy, but i listen to all kinds of music - I listen 2 whatever i think is good.

On the Reggae side - you all should give Alpha Blondy a try (i think most of u already did) cuz that some shit 2 lay back 2.

On the hiphop side - i know that most of u americans are kinda sceptic 2 Swedish hiphop, i dont know why but... i mean i listen alot 2 Mc Solaar even if i cant understand shit of what he´s saying (d/l "Hasta La Vista" oooooweee!!!)
So i dont think that u dislike it cuz u dont understand Swedish, but damn listen 2 the beats, cuz most of the hiphop from sweden from 92-2000 is str8 westcoast man, and i happen 2 know many of u like to listen 2 beats with a rapper that flows good - well u got it right here in Sweden.

Give theese a try:

Infinite Mass - Area turns red
Latin Kings - Gussen
Looptroop - Long arm of the law
Petter feat. Looptroop - Top Dogz
Infinite Mass - Caught up in da game
Latin Kings - Borta i tankar
Fjärde Världen - Riktiga Proffs (This beat kicks azz, kinda like Slam harder by ONYX)
Latin Kings - Mitt kvarter
Latin Kings - Skön våg
Infinte Mass - Mah boys

This is the songs with a REAL G-FUNK feel to them, you will LOVE theese beats, guaranteed - period.

Give them a try it takes about 10 minutes of your time.

Peace

Quality Control is a classic album!!! I haven't checked out Power In Numbers yet, but J5's EP is also really dope.

For west coast hip hop I would recommend The Coup. Especially check out tracks like: "Fat Cats, Bigga Fish", "Santa Rita Weekend", and "Me and Jesus the Pimp in a '79 Granada Last Night".

West Coast Underground Gangsta Rap is kinda boring. They dont really have much to offer, a few banging beats here and now, and some of them have a nice style (X-Raided) but on the whole, they wack. Underground West Coast music, along the lines of Jurassic 5 & Ras Kass are a lot better. They have dope lyrics, a better message and overall they make better music.

The west is still way behind the East Coast though, East Coast has taken over the West since about 1996. The East arent renowned for their amazing beats, but they are on a higher level lyrically, and thats what makes them better. The West has too much of a gangsta image, its boring and played. Eastcoast is way more diverse, even their commercial artists are dope as fuck (Nas on Stillmatic, Illmatic, It Was Written), and they still got the tight underground heads (Chino XL).

I keep shit together by stayin open minded and takin in hip hop from all sides.  For the most part.. Im a Westcoast head.. and tend to get stuck on certain songs.  Like for instance.  Here is whats in my Compaq iPaq that I bump when at work.. or when I used to take the bus daily..

Big Lurch Feat. Roger Jr. - Wanna Take You Home
Onyx - Gangsta
2Pac And Spice 1 - 1 Day At A Time
2Pac - Hell For A Hustla (Mike Dean Mix)
Kurupt And WC - Gangsta Shit
Daz And Kurupt - So Lonely
Outlawz - Breakin The Rules
Outlawz - Hennessey And Weed
Mista CaNE - Almost Famous
Mista CaNE - Now We Begin
Mista CaNE - Do It
Bone Thugs - Cleveland
Dana Dane - Once Again (Battlecat)
Goldie Loc - Groove On
Kay Cavie Feat. Kokane - Baller Product
Vol 10 Feat. Kokane - Stick Yourself

This is just a list of songs that Ive been stuck on for a while.  But when I need to break the mold.. I did through my Eastcoast archives and pull out:

Any Bootcamp Clique album (have the whole catalog OG)
Any Nas Album - Ive been feelin him alot more lately
The Kreators Out Of Boston.. HOT AS Hell.. they did a song with Guru
Old School Pete Rock And CL Smooth.
Old School Gangstarr - Whos Gonna Take The Weight.. (my old jam)
I even got some ooooold shit:
Super Lover C And Cassanova Rud - Girls I Got Em Locked

so alot of times I just keep my ears open really.  Ive been into alot of
Defari
lately.. Peanut Butter Wolf.. etc.  Loot Pack and the entire Stones Throw label.  Mad Lib and the crew.

Im into all that kinda shit.  Rass.. Mikah 9 and The Freestyle Fellowship.  The Wascals and Quinton.  LA Symphony.. and solo Fat Lip shit.  Been into all that lately.  Pz.

I was bout to say the same thing. Prince is an amazing talent, alot of other great artists have spawned from what he created back in the day.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

About this topic, i myself have never been a complete westcoast head..........but the westcoast is what made me LOVE HIP HOP........before the Chronic, Doggystyle, and Regulate, i was only into Naughty, Public Enemy, and a couple others (i was only like 12), but when i heard Snoop, it brought me into a whole different world.  From there, i just researched back the westcoast and got into NWA and Eazy and all that, and then branched out into people like MC EIHT, too SHort, RAS KASS, and SPice 1.  After that, i got into the eastcoast, mainly thorugh Gangstarr, Wu Tang, and Nas.....then for awhile i stopped feeling the westcoast (except Ras) for a while as i thought NAS outclassed anyone i had heard (I soon realized there is room for all kinds of music however)......now, i can get into anything and i have a huge selection of hiphop over a very broad range.  To me, if you stay stuck in just purely westcoast, you won't appreciate it as much or give yourslef a chance to grow........

AXLE: that's dope you got all the BOOT CAMP albums (u feeling there new one), and that u down with Pete & CL......i never knew you were into the east like that(it was much better back then).  also, that is a dope list of songs you dropped, i was surprised how good Mista Cane is, and i also got the PAC/spice 1 track, and it may replace Jealous Got Me Strapped as my fav. Pac/Spice track.........thanks man

Thanks alot TeeCee.  I would have added that Jealus Got Me Strapped (..bust'in mutha fuckaz.. wit my back against the wall.. uugg) but I've played that song OUT!  So now its One Day At A Time.  Songs with an emotional feel.  Thats kinda what Im workin with now ah dayz.

Yea.. Ive been a big Boot Camp fan since Who Got The Props.  Most dissed the Coco Brovaz album.. but I loved it.  I thought the addition of Boogie Brown as a producer was the right move.  Most BCC fans hated the change from the Beatminerz sound.. Boogie Brown did alot of production that Boot Camp comp For The People.  Mad "bumpplez" on that album.  I just downloaded the rip.. but want to wait until I get the OG this afternoon before listening to it.  Im hopin that they push this dude named "Swan" to the forefront.  He killed it on The BDI album on a track called "Ill Be DAMMED" Woooo thats a heater.  Check that TeeCee and holla back with some feedback for me.  Id be interested in hearing your opinion.  If you need any of their albums, holla.. I know that your good for buyin the OG.  Pz.
