Pac had west coast in his blood, repped it alot harder than Dre and Snoop.
Suge Knight began the decline of the west coast.

Naw, Snoop represented his hood, eastside long beach where he was from.....How could Pac have westcoast in his blood when he was from NewYork ?  He just rep'd the coast cuz thats where he made his money and his music.

you think that pac started that? i remember when dre, snoops, even ice-t's albums were being smashed on city streets by politicians, long before pac came out with his loud mouth....i remember time warner issuing public apologies for records long before pac....and snoop made it a bigger issue with the murder trial....i guess i'm just tryin to say that rap had a bad image wayyyy before pac. pac just shed even more light on it.....

i think he's tryin to say that 'westcoast' is a mindstate and not a physical thing...

(i think kurupt was born in philly - and if you follow your example and he was born in philly, he can't rep westcoast...although i might be wrong....)

[sarcasm]Your point holds no wait.  Are you from CA?  or even the west coast?  If not, then your opinion on west coast music means nothing cos you weren't born here.[/sarcasm]

See, that doesnt make sense right?  Pac WAS what what west coast music was about.  Ice Cube, Ice T, and more were claiming west coast too, and last I checked, Ice T isnt even from CA.

Pac didnt ruin west coast music, cos if he did, Snoop, Dre, Xzibit, ANYONE, would not have sold records after it.  And Pac didnt start the East/West thing, that's all media.  The media started that shit -- Pac made it clear, he was going after Bad Boy/Biggie.  And even that beef (Bad Boy/Deathrow) had been going on WAY before Pac even got to Deathrow.

Close this thread, it's pointless.

PAC = GOAT.

G Funk and all that shit was about to die anyway. However I think Pac would have lasted past all that because his music was never really just west coast, or just gangsta rap.

this is what probably sums it up right here....2pac's cd weren't all about doing g shit, it wasn't all about love...it was a whole mixture of things. west coast music was going into a transitioning period and 2pac was leading the way. once 2pac died however, what we were left with was a bunch of rappers still trying to capitilize off of full gangsta rap .

same thing with 2001, Dre set it up for the west to be on top, he passed the ball to Xzibit....and the westcoast dropped the ball because they just came out with more gangsta shit.

i kinda agree..

nah 2pac put a negative view of the west coast in the media before he died. stigma from that is part of what has kept the west down.

Yeah because Suge never threatened Eazy with a Bat, or made anyone drink piss, or beat up anyone, and Snoop never was on trial for murder, and dre never slapped a female, and Nate dogg and ruthless never got down on a golf course, it was all 2pac's fault the west coast got negative views  ::)

Pac was like a puppet for Suge IMO....See what Im tryin to say is that when Snoop was comin out, he was rolling with about 5-10 other artist/friends from the LBC, so thats what the represented, cuz it meant something to them, and it was the thing to do.....IMO Pac just repped the west because thats what Suge wanted him to do, and thats where the money was at.....After all, Pac didnt come up in the game with any westcoast cats, and didnt really roll w anyone besides Suge and ahh Digital Underground...Just cuz Im not from the westcoast, doesnt mean I cant hold an opinion.

Its kind of a double edged sword....Personally, Ive lived in other citys before, and If someone asks me where Im from, I say where I was born.

I guess thats the difference between me and 2Pac  ;D

Pac is cool tho, I love his music, just dont agree with alota the shit he did.

Basically think of it like... everyone has their group of buddies. Lets say your group of buddies worked their ass of to get all the hot girls in your city. Now imagine some dude from like another city moving in next door. You get kinda cool with him and then bam... it seems like every girl in your circle wants to bang him, but theres like 10 of you who've been here from day one. The new guy gets the show while the rest just sit back and watch it unfold. In the end, the new guy gets shot by some homies across the city and then all the girls are sad because their man died. They forget your there still with your 10 buddies. Then you guys gotta try and do it all over again.

i'm not trying to say pac is a bad artist, but in all honesty, HE DOESN'T REP THE WEST... HE WAS SIGNED TO A WESTCOAST LABEL THAT DID REP THE WEST.  He came from NY, HE DID DISS BIGGIE... HE GOT ALL THE ATTENTION AND THEN HE DIED... THE END... no one cared about nate dogg on a golf course or anything but what PAC DID... basically all these dudes worked hard for what they got, DIDN'T GET THE ATTENTION... and when Pac goes down... NO ONE REMEMBER WHO STARTED IT ALL...
