Very good music.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

i havent really heard any of Ron Isley's recent albums. Apparently R Kelly handled most of the production.

Has anyone heard what theyre like?

I've been getting into old school soul and R&B lately too, the Isley's are definately something I'm gonna get into. Right now I'm getting my Marvin Gaye stuff together, but yeah the Isley's... Gotta get on that too. I mean you bump into these tracks every now and then, and you realize you already know them and you're feelin' them. Same thing with Gaye.

Better late than never lol. The Isleys have timeless classic soul.  They've managed to stay relevant for over 4 decades for a reason ;)  It's a breath of fresh air to sit back and enjoy some of that school music.  My collection is nowhere near where I want it to be, but it's definitely something I'm working on building.
