no it wouldn't
u jus lookin at it for the westside's point of view. remember at the same time as chronic came out, peeps like The Wu, and many other's were comin out, don't jus think about the west

Sorry to hit you with it but I guess I'm the BIGGEST WU TANG FAN ON THIS WHOLE FORUM just check my reviews in the Album Review forum, so please dont tell me anything about the Wu, Im with them since day 2 or something. But The Chronic just made more impact. The WuTang revolutionized New York rap, Dre & Snoop revolutionized the whole rap.

No offense to you guys, I was just lettin you know.

I be one of those tall skinny cats with the four-nine
Three-eleven that rips through Power-U's and breaks spines
I culture power-tuggin' boys who be drunk, buggin'
Lovin' loud noise from toys, club thuggin'
Sweet chocolate deluxe, rugged, sexy buttercup
That don't give a fuck about the cop in the club

yeah i read ur reviews, u probz are a bigger fan then me. All i'm saying is that there's more to 'Hip-Hop' than what comes out of Dre's Studio.
i ain't a hater to dre or anyone, i love that stuff. jus saying that the topic was 'hip hop' not jus gangsta rap/G funk

Run DMC and Aerosmith - Walk this Way - in terms of commercialisation of Hip Hop this is the most important song in Hip Hop history

yo i think one of the most recent important song for hip-hop to get back on it's feet is definately

Cormega- American Beauty

if you haven't heard it, than buy the cd now, or download the song or whatever but you gotta hear how tight and deep this shit is...don't sleep on it cause it's an underground eastcoast emcee yall, peace.

here are the lyrics to cormega- american beauty
just in case yall were gonna sleep on it
check these lyrics out, bet you'll wanna peep the track after

Yo, its night time I can't sleepMy pens beggin' me to write rhymes
Cory's a felony despite timeI erase the urge on the tip of my tongue
I taste the words a story is born, my glorious song
Hip hop cannot ignore me for long
I know her last man abused her, I can't refuse her
Alotta niggas used her, treated her like shit even confused her
She had class now she sellin it all for cash
When Marley had her, her face was more pure body fatter
Primo treated her good, made her the queen in my hood
She used to be out in Queens with DMCAnd on the rooftp with Big, Fritz, and R.P.
She was fly she kept her shit tight
Yo if he didn't go to jail dun, she mighta been Slick Rick's wife
Disappeared a few years, she was "Stranded On Death Row"
Dre had her on anotha level in the west coast
She met a lame with with a drug dealer name
He had a lot for a while, then his whole style changed
You know the wisdom is reflected the knowledge when its manifested
If not fed in due time the mind is anerexicYou understand the message
I know I'm gettin to deep for someRhyme -- Uncut raw, the beat numb
Back to the subject in hand, I called her and said I miss her
Stop fuckin with my fake crew cuz they dissed her
Then along came the R, reminding her of her essence
Rza said she like a sister blessin her with lessons
She was stressed because she missed Pac
She still crying after B.I.G. died askin 'when will this shit stop?'
I love her like a mother, my physical path
She even overlooked the fact about my criminal past
And stayed with me in jail beyond gates visitors passed
No longer is she lettin niggas fuck her just for cashWhats her name dun?

that's some real deep hip-hop, peace.

I prefer Common's "I Used To Love H.E.R." but Cormega came nice on that track however it is not one of Hip Hop's most important songs.

I love that whole Cormega cd, but i hesitate to say that American Beauty is really important (very dope song though, he flips that beat way better than Nas and Jada did on Jada cd)

Some very important songs in hip-hop:

"East Coast Killaz/West Coast Killaz" - Signafied a turning point in hip-hop.  Title kinda says it all.

"Nuthin But A 'G' Thang" - Just the vibe and style of the song.  The raps told by Dre and Snoop were real, and portrayed the everyday lives of many West coast ridaz/

"The Light" - A song about lookin at things in a different way...more positive hip-hop.

There are more.

Sheeeeit! I didn't know that! Thats fcuking awsome! lol. Not only is it dope as it's Dre & Pac, but it's a hip-hop tune! It's a total hip-hop classic but I would've never of thought it could take the title above ALL genres of music!

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.
