What the hell is this? LMAO. Kobe has played HALF a career...

Exactly; that is why i pointed out that not all of these numbers mean a whole lot.  However, MANY of them are quite telling, but as usual you nitpick and disregard the things that are on point.

Point in case:

Games with NO assists:

Jordan-  7

Kobe- 47!!!

Games with 5+ turnovers-

Jordan-132

Kobe-147
Games with under 50% shooting
Michael Jordan: 466 (43% of games)
Kobe Bryant: 489 (62% of games)

Kobe Bryant is not among the top 100 players all time in assists per game.
Michael Jordan is. He’s #76 in assists per game and #34 in assists.
Michael Jordan is #3 all time in rebounding by a guard (behind Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson).
Kobe Bryant is not among the top 50 players all time in steals per game.
Michael Jordan is. He’s #4 in steals per game and #2 in steals.
Michael Jordan is #1 all time in blocks by a guard.

Games with 8+ steals
Air: 12
Bean: 0
Games with 7+ steals
Air: 18
Bean: 1

Of the 143 50 point games since 1986, in terms of shooting percentage:
Michael Jordan's games include #1, #5, #8, #17, #21, #22, etc.
Kobe Bryant's games include
10 of the 30 worst
7 of the 15 worst
The 3 worst
#118, #120, #122, #129, #131, #132, #133, #141, #142, #143
In NBA history, there are 13 50 point games with under 50% shooting, and Kobe Bryant is responsible for 6 of them.

Games playes will only make somethings worse for Kobe; he will never catch Jordan's 3 games played with no assists!

But STILL, these numbers are not comparable, because Jordan never had games where he played 5-10 minutes as Kobe did in his first couple seasons...YOU CANT COMPARE. Percentages are in Jordan's favor, despite Kobe being the much sharper shooter. Why, you might ask? Because Kobe has RANGE. He's shot 3 pointers throughout his career regularly, while Jordan SUCKED from behind the arch. Someone who shoots threes will generally shoot a lower percentage. All these numbers are tainted...I can make a whole list like this in favor of Kobe starting with an 81 point game and ending with a consecutive free-throws made...Point is, Kobe EASILY has a chance to end his career as the G.O.A.T. The person who came up with those lines is OBVIOUSLY a Jordan jocker/Kobe hater...PeACe

Even if Mr. Bean hasn't played as many games, he'll still not overtake Jordan in many of those statistics.

Jordan>>>>>>>>>>>Kobe.

Exactly!

Kobe could make 1500 shots in a row, and he'd barely pass Jordan in FG%.
Now let's assume that Kobe takes 2000 shots per season.
At that rate he'd need to convert on 56.3% of his shot attempts for the next five years. We know this is impossible already, especially for a guard. Even MJ couldn't do it for a season!
Or perhaps Kobe plays for ten more years, averaging 1500 shots per season. He'd need to shoot over 54% to match Jordan, and once again, Jordan barely did this himself for one season.
If Kobe played until he was 50, another 21 years and every game of every season starting now, he would still have to average 32.6 ppg just to near Jordan's career ppg. HAHA!
sfhguibnbhq | May 18, 2007
If Kobe played another ten years (which he won't), and averaged 80 games each season (800 games total), he would have to average over 35.5 points per game to match Jordan's career scoring average. Kobe won't even have a season on that level.
If Kobe played another 8 years for 640 more games, 36.9 ppg.
If Kobe played another 5 years for 400 more games, 41 ppg.
If Kobe wanted to match Jordan's average by the time he has been playing as long as Jordan did, 45.1 ppg... yeah right.

Of course, alot of that has to do with Kobe coming to the league at 18, which WAS his choice.  Lebron was able to be dominant at 18, why not Kobe?

LMAO@comparing LeBron's situation with Kobe's...Kobe came into the league as a bench player on a contending team, coming off the bench behind Eddie Jones. Overall numbers will never spell out how amazing he was/is in his prime. Everything will be blatant by the time Kobe ends his career.

im not even going to read this thread all i have to say is Kobe is better than MJ at this point in their careers and Kobe has a realistic chance of really surpassing Jordan as the GOAT.

If he was as good at 18 as LBJ , he wouldn't have been behind Eddie Jones, simple as that.  Kobe was not that good at that age, did you watch when he was on the court?

However, who's to say Jordan would have been great in the NBA at 18; he wasn't even the best player on his college team.  That is besides the point; Kobe came to the NBA at 18 as the first guard to make the jump, and he wasn't really ready.  His choice, oh well.

LOL...LeBron was PUSHED on the worst team in the NBA. He was numbers his rookie season, yes, but had he been drafted by the Lakers with an ALL-STAR Eddie Jones on the team, that would NOT have been the stories...STOP the ridiculous analogies...PeACe

You are a flat out HATER if you deny Kobe has the chance to surpass Jordan, with the skill he possesses at the age of 28, when Jordan only had 1 ring. :grumpy:

Even if Kobe was only getting 5 minute spots, it's on him for coming out the gate at 18.  If Jordan would have done the same, he wouldn't have gotten any PT either.  But if you're gonna throw out Kobe's early season(s), then throw out Jordan's 2 worst as well.  You can't have it both ways.

The point is, lists like these can be made both ways. But like Vegasmac said, Kobe is better and has accomplished more than Jordan by this point in his career...PeACe

By the time Jordan was 28, he won 1 title. Kobe has more time to build on his legacy. He can reach 8 or 9 IMO. 8)

Are you serious? Kobe has accomplished more? LMAO. Yeah right. In the first 11 years of his career Jordan had: 3 MVP trophies, 7 of his 10 NBA All First Team, 4 NBA Titles, 4 Finals MVP's (I believe), Defensive Player of the Year award,  7 All Defense First Team, 8 All Star selections, 2 All Star Game MVPs.

Thats a lot to accomplish in just 11 years. I don't think Kobe has done ALL that... Has he?

Kobe has won more championships than Jordan by the age of 28. Kobe has barely entered his prime. Jordan's prime actually came in his 30's...PeACe

I like how you can cry that its unfair to compare Jordans career and Kobes as Kobe hasn't played as long. Yet, Kobe has had 10+ years in the league at this point, whereas Jordan only had 7 (age wise). An extra four years for Kobe makes all the difference. You match up their first 11 years in the league (which makes MUCH more sense) and Jordan's accomplishments >>>>>> Kobes. But by 28 Jordan was MVP twice. Had 1 NBA Title. Rookie of the Year. Defensive Player of the Year and Finals MVP. Thats pretty good for the first SEVEN years of his career. Aside from the Title, Kobe cannot say hes done any of that by 28.

Jordan >>>>>>> Kobe
