Creepin on Ah Come Up, is it a classic
« on: August 02, 2001, 08:57:55 PM »
Is Creepin On Ah Come Up a classic.  I consider it a classic becasue it was ground breaking.  This Cd started a whole new sound in rap.  It was accepted by the main stream.  It opened it rap in the mid-west.  Everysong is a banger except Moe Cheese buts thats because it is the is a instrumental for,  foe tha love of money.  The only argument Nah sayers have is that it is to short.  But besides that it is a classic.

Hell fuckin yea its a classic, easily. This shouldnt even be a question. Every song from start to finnish is a banger, and its impact and influence alone makes it a classic. However, E.1999 Eternal is Bone's TRUE musical masterpiece.

I agree.  The length of the album is a factor.

It's not even 8 songs!!! It's 5...It has an Intro, a Skit, and a Bonus Insturmental...

That means a CD with 5 Songs went 6 times platinum...Damn!

Just incase anyones interested heres what allmusic.com said about COACU.

When this brief EP first debuted in 1994, few rap groups had been able to attain success that weren't from either California or New York. By end of the decade, this wouldn't be the case, but when Creepin on Ah Come Up put the unlikely Midwestern city of Cleveland on the rap map (as NWA did for L.A. and Master P for the South), Bone Thugs-N-Harmony had done more than just release a great record — they opened the doors for other non-New York and non-California groups. Besides this underlying importance, it's also important to recognize the other ways this EP proved to be so innovative. First of all, R&B had been integrated into rap in the late '80s, thanks mostly to Teddy Riley, but no one had ever brought the vocal harmony of R&B to gangsta rap, a genre still in its infantile years circa 1994. So when "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" became an unprecedented commercial hit (eventually followed by "Tha Crossroads"), Bone Thugs-N-Harmony weren't merely soaking up the spotlight, but actually functioning as minor innovators. Besides their first hit, a song that still stands as one of their best, this EP also features another harmonious gangsta rap classic, "For Tha Love of Money," featuring Eazy-E, the notorious West Coast rapper responsible for signing the group to his label, Ruthless Records— Andrew Hamilton

Laterz.

PS This is definetly a classic, regardless of the number of songs.

still 4x for a cd wit only 5 tracks that are really songs an intro, skit,  an a instrumental is very impressive an also take in to consideration pretty much no1 knew who they were except those that owned faces of death,  they came out of nowhere,  look at snoop he had deep cover an tha chronic to introduce himself an same wit DPG an many other artist had guest spots on other albums to get there name out to tha public,  Bone thugs came from nowhere,  this shit is classic

Creepin only went 4x platinum, MAYBE 5x at the most since it hasnt been certified in YEARS [like 95, and its almost certainly gone up since then]. Regardless of how much it sold or how many songs it has, ITS CLASSIC, and this shouldnt even be disputed.

Eternal has sold more than 6 million. The last official number I saw was 7 million but many executives from Ruthless, DJ Uneek, and Layzie estimate that it could be well past 9 million as of now.......
