The Mamas & The Papas: California Dreaming .....lmao...

Classic Rock groups would include The Doors who blew up at The Whiskey A-Go-Go on Sunset Blvd. .... and The Beach Boys which made many men across the world wish that they had "California Girls"....

The Doors are a VERY Californian band, good call. Don't know how I missed listing them, not only do i own all of their shit (purchased) but I've seen them live.

SCC is not a bad choice. Guns n roses too.

Eastsidaz is included and implied in dre/snoop/daz/kurupt dp extended fam.

I know the SCC has already been mentioned just wanted to say that they were the one group that to me really had a gangsta sound and connection to the streets.

tanj, i cant believe you miseed out Tha Alkaholics..  :-\ one of the only groups to keep making and producing great albums and records since there arrival on the scene

they're one of the last groups i would put on this list. they make really dope shit but their shit sounds like a well done east coast album, not west.

i wouldnt say that, they deserve to be high on the list, they are early pioneers of the west and have brought through many artists that have taken the coast by storm (imo it seems like alot of people overlook tha liks cos they wernt on the g'funk sound the west is recognised for).. True e'swift and tash are originally from cincinatti so maybe thats why e'swifts beat sound more east then the usual west sound you are use to.. BUT you cant say that tash and j'ro lyrics are east coast, they keep a heavy westcoast party vibe sound to them! also any group that can last more then a decade while still producing good quality material should be considered greats!  :)

it's not an issue of great and non great to me. I would assume any band that helps define the sound/has a sound that represents the feel of CA would be great.

anyway, I almost wanna add Bone but I'm pretty reluctant.

WAR-good call.

I gotta hear some more SCC, have not heard much.
someone wanna hook me up?

Alkies are pretty west coast to me, don't they do a Caaaali ass track on the first Friday soundtrack?

Well I got to head to work so I can't hook you up right now but I'd say check out SCC's  "N Gatz We Truss" Album from like 93 I think.  That's my favorite from them.
