You're just listening to the excuses and justifications from lazy corporations in the music industry. The question shouldn't be how many platinum albums there have been this year, but how many "Great" albums have their been this year, and you'll see why there hasn't been many going platinum. For these executives putting money behind talentless puppets for the past number of years, and putting out poor quality product over the years have damaged the publics confidence and they're sick of paying for a CD with 1/2 good single songs and the rest filler garbage and it's now finally turning round to bite all them in the ass
