Bron, Wade, Ray Ray and Shaq Diesel

plus they had Gary Payton too :D

Just look at all that homegrown talent that started in Miami.

There's no homegrown talent in the NBA man lol. Just OKC and the Spurs.

I was making the point that of that list Shaq won 3 titles with the Lakers and was out of his prime, Ray Ray was years out of his prime, and GP was playing on old man legs. That's like saying Jerry Rice is a Seahawk hall of famer and Ricky Henderson is a Mariners hall of famer.

Signed a kid to a contract at 17, still have him at 34 (damn, half his life!); that's pretty home grown.

But I think the NBA is harder to have homegrown talent. The sport is more individual than the other sports, so once your rookie contract runs up you are looking to sign for the big dollars and "test the market." Even Kobe did it in 2004. So you have less homegrown talent and more people putting money into proven players. Also I think the whole high school to NBA hurt too, because even if you build off the draft, there is a huge chance your pick who you are counting on, doesn't pan out because they are not mature enough to carry a team. (see Howard, Dwight) Also you only get two picks per draft, and usually if you are not in the top 10, you are not going to get elite talent. So if you are always winning and you want to build for the future, your best bet is to get talent for elsewhere because you are not drafting it yourself.

are u serious? his european resume is enough to get him in the hall-of-fame, let alone his all-star years with memphis+glory years with the lakers winning rings.

so winning a bunch of bronze medals means something now?

he won't end his career with 20,000 points or 10,000 rebounds despite starting in the NBA at age 21

he never won a playoff game in 6 years in Memphis

he's never received ANY MVP voting in his entire career...not even 1% of an MVP share.

despite playing in 3 NBA finals he's not even close to top 50 all time in playoff scoring

do i need to keep going?

It's the "Basketball Hall of Fame". It's way easier to get into than the MLB or NFL. People get in for all kinds of other shit outside of their achievements in the NBA. Dude is clearly one of the best international players the game has seen and was really a trailblazer for other Spanish players, that shit's gonna go far. Not to mention 3 finals appearances and two wins. Not far-fetched at all to think he'll make it.
