Author Topic: ScHoolboy Q Describes Upcoming Project, Explains Collaboration With 50 Cent (Read 221 times)

ScHoolboy Q has already dropped off two independent albums: Setbacks and Habits & Contradictions. For his third release, the Black Hippy member explains that it’s going to be a combination of his previous LPs, mixing the deeper content of Setbacks with the more upbeat sentiment of H&C.

“It’s gotta be different. Just like Habits & Contradictions. Setbacks had a lot more content in it. A lot more meaningful topics. Habits & Contradictions was more of a funner project, not as serious,” he told Ashley Outrageous. “The next project is just going to be more put together. It has to be them two combined but with a new sound.”

He also addressed his recent collaboration “Can I Speak to You” with 50 Cent for his 5 (Murder By Numbers) street LP. While the interview was conducted before the tape’s release, Q explained how the duet came to be.

“He shot me the record. Yeah, it’s his record. He sent it to me, I did it, sent it back and we’re going to wait and see what happens. Hopefully it comes out, but if not, I know he sent me the record.”

ScHoolboy Q started 2012 the same way he finished 2011; on a constant grind! He dropped the acclaimed Setbacks early in 2011 and followed it up with his Habits & Contradictions LP from which we've brought you singles including Blessed featuring Kendrick Lamar, Sacrilegious and Druggys Wit Hoes Again.

In recent updates we brought you the video for NigHtmare On Figg St. directed by JeromeD, Druggy's Wit Hoes Again alongside Ab-Soul and the news that his label Top Dawg Entertainment, home to fellow rising stars Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul recently put pen to paper on a joint venture deal with Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records.

Last we heard Top Dawg Entertainment had sent ScHoolboy Q out on the road for a tour titled THe Groovy Tour with Ab-Soul that ran from April 20th until May 20th in Seattle. Since then he's given us behind the scenes of the Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre video for The Recipe and today has appeared on the FREE download of the new 50 Cent album 5 (Murder By Numbers) on the track "Can I Speak To You" produced by DJ Pain.

When asked about the collaboration recently Q said; "He shot me the record. Yeah, it’s his record. He sent it to me, I did it, sent it back and we’re going to wait and see what happens. Hopefully it comes out, but if not, I know he sent me the record." No need to hope - check it below!

no. q doesnt need fifty. it's a cool song but this really not what i want to see stretched. q has the the ability to work with much better artists.

Q is always mentioning how 50 is one of his favourite emcees and the reason he raps, and this proves they can make dope music together. I don't want to see him signed to G Unit or anything I'd just like to see more of this in future.
