it's a lie. To name a few Trouble, Ev'ryday, Sex Crymee, Fandango, Ladies & Thugs, Catch 22, California wouldn't fit to his previous albums. Of course drum patterns may be similar in some ways but what you're expecting from rap music? Bossa Nova rhythm?
And yes he uses same instruments in many songs but it's due to the fact he was always using a large spectrum of instruments... so ask the whole human race why they haven't invite new instruments for Quik...
