you obviously never heard any UGK albums in your short lifetime ever

what's understood doesn't need to be explained, you have zero knowledge of hip-hop, strictly whatever you see/hear from this forum

what makes Pimp C great ?

A pioneer, a trendsetter, a decent rapper, a fly hook singer and a legendary producer who was still in his prime when he died even though he was 20 years deep in the game.

I mean I understand not liking Pimp C's rapping skills, he can be redundant, and he's always rapping about the same thing pretty much. However, ignoring his legacy and contribution to Hip-Hop,  and his amazing production skills can be attributed to either ignorance and hate. Pimp C is among the most influential producers to come out the South with Mike Dean, Mannie Fresh and KLC. Dude has one of the most original and musical production styles in rap.

Pimp C was one of the first to call himself Pimp in Rap, he was 16 and then rapping about pimpin wasn't the thing to do, 10+ years later, everybody in the mainstream was doing the Pimp persona (50 Cent, etc.). That my friend, is one of the most important qualities in Hip-Hop, because Hip-Hop is always about being an innovator, and mashing hard for your style in spite of the current trends. As such, Pimp C is one of the greats, along with Eazy-E and a few others. Authenticity is what all these rappers wish they had.

The only thing that can be called "average" about Pimp C is his rapping skills, I love Pimp's raps cause dude got mad flavor and he got soul, he touches down on a lot of subjects that everybody can relate to but I'm objective enough to admit that he ain't all that rapwise (Bun does that for him).

Tell me what's average about these songs ?

also, LONGEVITY speaks for Pimp. dude was relevant all his career, how many rappers can say that ? How long was Kurupt (that you had in you avi for a long time) relevant for ? 5, 6 years ? UGK were relevant in 1992, and in 07 when Pimp died, possibly even more relevant then.

but then again i've never taken you very seriously... lol, a Danish wigger with a snobbish attitude, acting like he knows everything and having the nerve to make fun of this or that rapper.

to get back to K.R.I.T. I was struck by the resemblance with Pimp C at first but K.R.I.T. is more lyrical, less gangsta and more "serious" than Pimp. Dude has amazing production skills but has his own style, different from Pimp's who used a lot of live instruments especially organs, bass, etc.

but I love his "conscious", introspective lyrics, and I love the vibe from his beats. I can understand people not liking his flow though, but I love it.

Thank God for BloodMoney and Bouli77.

Haha for real, someones gotta keep these fools in line.

Krit released 3 of the best mixtapes I've ever heard, unfortunately his album wasn't up to par with them (was still dope just not the classic I thought it would be) and he hasn't seemed to have released much since?

Regardless I'm still definitely checking whatever project he has coming next

I feel like Def Jam didn't give him enough push because he didn't have those "obvious" singles out there, I mean they shot videos for "I Got This" and "What U Mean" and then it seems like they gave up... could have even done some visuals for "Porchlight" or "If I Fall" and guarantee it would have added some numbers to the sales

fuck it though, Krit is getting paid since all the production was on his part, and the album was dope which is all that should really matter, but yeah 4Eva & A Day >

a decent rapper,

You said it yourself.. Dude was average and I just didnt like him.. I respect UGK and UGK has some dope songs but Im just not that in to their music... Bun B is DOPE though

Whats wrong with having an opinion? And what does the color of my skin have to do with my knowledge of rap and what I think is dope?

Since you are using that logic please explain to me why you are more entitled to an opinion than I am. Please enlighten me.

they do gain some respect for at least initially signing/releasing albums from dudes like Big K.R.I.T., Big Boi, Frank Ocean, etc. in a day and age where most major labels don't even have enough faith to provide an advance for such talented artists

but yeah, why can't they push dudes like they pushed 2 Chainz or Rick Ross (well Ross has his own money I'm sure he spends on marketing)

I bought all these dudes' albums named above this year too except 2 Chainz

2 Chainz grinded like crazy to get where he is though, I don't fuck with dudes music but you got to respect the work ethic.

I think KRIT released a new video this week anyway
