That's actually an idea that could generate some excitement.  It gives teams in the lower half of the standings hope and a reason to play for something at the end of the year, and those play in games will get good ratings.

Wish they would've had something like that when Jordan played for the Wizards.  On the other hand its a bit gimmicky
