if u don’t realize right now that none of them are timeless hits, then this conversation is useless LOL

nobody is playin outa da blue FOH … when nuthin but a g thang dropped, all of LA could recite that song word for word. i can poll 20 random LA heads about outa da blue and i can guarantee u a majority of them haven’t even heard it, let alone can recite it.

i duno if there’s a detachment youre facing from not being out west, but u should see the difference by now brother

I can tell you right now, having bought the Doggystyle album the day it came out, no one thought Gin and Juice would be a timeless hit and people would be playing it 30 years later.  The album charted and has good streaming numbers, so SOMEONE must be listening to Out Da Blue.  I'm sorry that the random twenty 18 year old gangbangers you surveyed in LA aren't listening to it.  I doubt those same 18 year olds are listening to Gin and Juice or Dre Day right now either.  And they ain't bumpin RBX either.  So if that's your metric that decides what is 'good' music, you got a lot of failed producers and rappers out there who have 'fallen off'.

The album is not only made for LA. It is worldwide in other countries the placement is better than in the USA, that's what the album stands for, which can also appeal to another society

lol ok bro

people were lined up to get doggystyle when it dropped … snoop was a phenom at that point coming off the chronic, which was a massive success

outa da blue didn’t even make it to the hot 100

https://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100/

not sure where you’re getting this idea that it’s some massive hit and has potential to be a timeless classic lol

Here’s my thing with that bro, I don’t think it’s even about the sound but if you linked Dre up with any other rapper in his 50s that’s looked at as more a celebrity figure rather than a rapper, the sales would still be the same and to even make the charts that point is a feat in itself. Eminem is still looked at as a rapper so his credibility is higher from a rap stand point than Snoop so he’ll obviously out perform on the charts.

nice explanation. agreed. props.

Everything below 3/5 I delete from my itunes library.

Snoop Dogg: Tha Doggfather

Snoop Dogg: Dead Man Walking

Snoop Dogg: Missionary

i dont take you serious because you dont have "change gone come" in your list. you must be out of your mind. it cant be explained with personal music taste. you are not someone to take serious.

dre's  magic was to find a simple catchy melody and make puchy drums to hit your ears hard.

now he is trying to make some complex instrumentations but he doesnt have that musician point of view. thats where he fails. he aint no real musician.

best song on the album is "thank yoıu". its the only song feels like a dre beat. thats what he is good at.

i like the album by the way but im not surprised it failed on charts and sales.

Over 800,000 people bought the album in the US alone in the first week.  I lived in a small town in Canada and was lined up at the cd store but they sold out all the copies before I got in.   I had to wait a week to get my copy but luckily a friend of mine got the album so I dubbed it off him.  No one was talking about what would be timeless or not in those days as hip hop was in its infancy in a lot of ways, but the IMMEDIATE impact of Doggystyle was obvious as it cemented the changes in the game that began with the Chronic.  If songs charted then like they do now; the entire album would’ve been in the top 20 of billboard 100 thx to streaming whereas none of the Missionary songs made it I believe.

The above comes from someone who really enjoys Missionary btw…and I think they dropped the ball by not turning Last Dance into a hit.  I mean; clearly they were reaching for one so why not promote the hell out of that track specifically?

Snoop Dogg - Change Gonna Come

Well, what can I say... the track ain't terrible, the beat works, but not a fan of the singing.

Doggfather was for many the first disappointment back then from Death Row after Hits like Chronic, Doggystyle, Dogg Food, All Eyez on me, Doggfather was boring. Dead Man Walking is more of a compilation album where 98 came out of Suge Knight, Snoop didn't want it

Eminem's white and doesn't count... he blew up majorly in the 90's and can still generate buzz in White America and international fans because of that fact alone.
Interscope also put a marketing plan for Em's album and it worked (but not to take anything from Em, it's a dope album with a good concept) but you can obviously see they had a plan and executed and got good results.  Can't say Interscope did the same for Marsha or Snoop which is puzzling.

yes it was the first "disappointment" even if I always liked this album. less good than dogg food all Eyez on me doggystyle... and yes dead man walkin is a compilation released without snoop's agreement but that doesn't prevent it from easily shitting on missonary. that's just my opinion. even though I know that many here like this shitty album that is Missionary.

Lmao
Ironically Sticcy Situation is better than Change Gonna Come, so you kinda failed with what you were trying to achieve with that post lol. You could've at least picked some undeniably bad songs, like the Outta Da Blue or Gunz & Smoke to make your point clearer.

no it's not better. and it's funny but the only songs I like are outta da blue, gorgeous and the last minute of sticcy situation. The first 2 pieces that I mentioned are generally the ones that people who appreciate the CD don't like. Change gone comes is better than any missionary and I'm not talking about may i, head doctor, gangsta walk..... but apparently sting, jelly roll, coco sarai it's better than daz, kurupt, jewell, michel le, nanci fletcher 🤣 and once again I repeat if the album sucks, it's Dr. Dre's fault, not Snoop. apparently you say that the album was made for the world and not just for california and g-funk fans... but who was doggystyle made for? it didn't work all over the world??? R&G and Paid tha Coast didn't work all over the world? whats my name, ain t no fun, beautiful, lets get blown, ... What missionary sound is playing on the radios in the USA? in any case here in France none! even if we are no longer at the same time, Eminem was still on repeat during the release of Death Of Slim Shady...
