That was also my verdict and still is. The album sounds good from a distance on a high-quality, professional system. On my Adam Audio's in my studio, with a subwoofer and an acoustically treated room, it sounded good too. My problem was this: in the car, on my headphones, and on regular speakers it was a disappointment. The "high frequencies" are simply too loud and the mixes are very bright. Maybe this album really was intended to be produced for studios, Dolby Atmos systems, and big stages.
It just is what it is: The old Dr. Dre sound aesthetic still sounds fantastic on EVERY speaker and EVERY headphones.

it's called stadium music

when u blast it on high end stadium speakers at full volume, it maintains clarity

he started doing that with compton, but at least compton maintained some thickness to it ... missionary just went all in on the thin sonics, which doesn't sound good on a regular system unless u turn the bass way up and lower the treble.

Nonetheless SOMEONE should have told them to make a "normal" mix, too. I think they thought that's gonna be the "new sonics" everybody will like. Which definately isn't the case....

Dre and Snoop sounds good on "Outta da Blue" but the hook and beat sucks.

Patiently waiting for a GOOD remix.

Found these remixes on youtube

Missionary doesn't have a song even half as good as Talkin to my diary or Gone.

Missionary doesn't have a song as bad as Talk about it

Talk about it is a great song—10/10 banger to jump off the album.  Can’t believe you appreciate other songs on the album but not that one.

But your first statement is true.  How did Dre fall off so far in 10 years?  Cause he started throwing up devil horns (rock n roll hall of fame, Super Bowl) at public appearances maybe he sold himself to the devil in 2020 or maybe it’s just age or maybe Compton didn’t get the support it deserved so he tried to fix what wasn’t broken
