I always struggle when you post these thread for 2 reasons.

1 - I can barely think of 2 or 3 hip hop albums

And 2 - I can think of 10 but no one would be interested in what they are because they aren't hip hop.

Hip Hop has been less than 5% of what I listen to for a long time. But when i collate my 10 I'll let you know. Always a good thread on here.

I can hardly come up with a top 5 songlist of real 2023 releases:

1. Marsha Ambrosius - The Greatest
2. Eddi Penthouse - Sucka duckin’
3. Az - This is why
4. Mount westmore - Activated (december 2022)
5. Az - Amazing
6. Maylay Sparks - Unusual Styles (originally released in 1998)
7. King T - Step on by (also originally a 1998 song)
8. Kali Uchis - Moonlight

Best albums of 2023:
1. King T - Kingdom come (finally after 25 years)
2. Kali Uchis - Red moon in Venus
3. Az - Truth be told

That Cardo & Larry June album is the only one I can think of

Cardo not from the west but a lot of the albums he’s produced has a very west coast sound

Ok so I had to have a big think but I reckon these were the 10 most listened to that I really enjoyed. In no particular order.

William Shatner - Ponder The Mystery (Revisited)

The Streets - The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light

Oh No & Roy Ayers - Good Vibes/Bad Vibes

Onyx - Blood On Da X

Madison McFerrin - I Hope You Can Forgive Me

Dinner Party - Enigmatic Society

Kimbra - Self Reckoning

Sleaford Mods - UK Grim

Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammed - Jazz Is Dead 16/17/18 (Really hard to pick one as every single one of these albums have been amazing)

Blur - The Ballad Of Darren

Notable mentions go to -

Kaan & Dem Joints - Peace Of Mindz - This one only made a brief appearance online before being pulled so no YT vid for this one.
Andre 3000 - New Blue Sun
Duran Duran - Danse Macabre
Greta Van Fleet - Starcatcher
Tony Touch - The Def Tape
Nicholas Brittel & Robert Glasper - The Winning Time
The Chemical Brothers - For That Beautiful Feeling

I think a top 10 songs thread would be warranted as well.

She's pretty good mixes various styles and does albums in english and spanish. I like her 2018 album the best (Isolation)
