amazing classic.

hunter thompson is like a hybrid between jack kerouac and william burroughs.

huh? Since when do dubcc people read Kerouac and Borroughs lol? You get a prop  ;D

Brilliant movie, popular, but still underrated in a sense IMO. I have a feeling that many people don't really see past all the acid-popping and ether-snorting, I personally think it's an amazing cultural document (the book) made into a visually brilliant (Terry Gilliams is that nigga) movie. All-time favorite of mine 8)

...and I love Depp's and Del Toro's perfomance

just to make that clear, I did not mean to direct this at anyone in here (the not-seeing-past-the-drugs), it's a general observation I made, also based on discussing the movie with other people. The book's recommendable IMO, I read it just like half a year ago. The movie's very close to it however and since the book itself is very short, Gilliam and his crew included almost all of it in oine way or another and some of the dialogue has been extracted word by word...so just don't expect anything mind-blowingly new or different from the book if you've seen the movie. But still, it's a very interesting read. I love that whole Gonzo thing Thompson started (and the so-called "New Journalism" that came up in the Sixties)..

yeah, any other name I might have had on this board was either too long ago for me to remember (or feel like remembering  :D) or just for very short periods. I do think I recognize your name, but I don't really have an idea of who you are either...but going from your post number you must have been around here a bit before you plunged into hippie culture and Beatnik literature.....
