The Greatest MC Of The New Millennium
« on: July 28, 2003, 06:40:08 PM »
Now if hip-hop was created and began on January 1st 2000.  Who would be considered the greatest MC ever?  Here’s my top 10:

1. Eminem
2. Nas
3. Scarface
4. Ghostface Killah
5. Jay-Z
6. Royce Da 5’9"
7. Gza/Genius
8. Andre (of Outkast)
9. Cormega
10. Prodigy (of Mobb Deep)

Now I can’t find a reason to include the likes of Rakim, Slick Rick, Notorious B.I.G., etc. since they very little material released and yet to release an album.  Now I must be forgeting some people to have Prodigy in the top ten but he did drop a nice album with H.N.I.C. and sounded good and the Free Agents mixtape.

Now Nas and Eminem are the top two for sure, Nas dropping the better albums but Eminem edged him out with the impact he made.  Gza might be high but he's there cause he released a solid album and shined on the two Wu-Tang Clan albums, you can see from that material that he's one of the best.

Who's in you top ten?

if hiphop was created only 3 years ago, em, jay-z & 50 cent would be regarded as the holy trinity of rap.

:-X could you imagine? i probably wouldnt have gotten into hip-hop

but anyways, this is a hard topic. i dont really listen to many CDs post 2000 but i'll make a list of ones i do, no order

1.Phil Da Agony
2.Mitchy Slick
3.Krondon
4.Ras Kass (he's had a LOT of material post 2000)
5.Royce Da 5'9
6.Planet Asia
7.Proof (of D-12)
8.Chace Infinite
9. Chali 2Na (of Jurassic 5)
10. Evidence (of Dilated Peoples)

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

mega would defnitly be on the top 5.  what about pac tho.  he has released 2 albums since 2000.  i kno its pushin it a bit but still there was some quality material an the way rap is it really stands out.  im a big mobb deep fan but i wouldnt put prodigy on there.  HNIC is dope but that album started to show the downfall of pee.  u gotta put nas,  em,  an jigga on there aswell.  as much as i dont wanna put him on this list u gotta put nelly b/c he has pushed an insane amount of units,  get mad airplay,  an brung in a new style of rap..  gotta put xzibit on there.  i would maybe put havoc on there b/c he has been one of the most consistant in the game.  ight heres my list in no order

1. nas
2. eminem
3.  xzibit
4.  nelly
5.  cormega
6.  havoc
7.  jigga
8.  pac
9.  ludacris
10.  jadakiss
