IRC Question

When ever I sign onto any server on IRC it says "Checking Host Name" and a bunch of other shit and then like 2 minutes later I finally connect.. wtf? y?

It never really happened to me before and Ive been using IRC since early this summer..  ???

I figured it was something I was doing since I just reformatted my drives.

Oh yeah.. I have another question too.

You know how when you go onto IRCSpy or Packetnews and search for some files? Then you click the one you want and it opens the server and room up, and then you hit paste and it pastes the trigger into the dialog box for you? Mine doesnt do that anymore. It stopped since I reformatted and had to dl new IRC/Invision/DCCAssist. Why??

Open up port 113 for faster IDENT, in your router.
I assume you got a router since you're on DSL.

The prodecure is different from router to router, but log in with "TELNET", from the "Run" prompt.
I suggest searching for your router on Google to find a guide.

Im not on a router..I have cable but theres no need for a router.
