Help with Internet Explorer stuff

This ain't anything serious, but can anybody explain why the drop-down history menu in IE (by the address bar) never clears completely? I understand that my favourites are there, but there's also a couple of URL's there that won't go away no matter how many times I clear the history. I run XP by the way.
For instance, there's this one:
//www.splintercell.com/uk
I been there a few times, but that address never clears from the history list. There's three others. Does the fact that there's two slashes ( // ) in front of them have to do something with it? I tried the Windows search funtion too, but could't find where the hell those URL's are stored.
