Both sides would have lost hundreds of thousands if not millions of people both civilian and military people. It could have lasted for years, because japan had stated that they would never surrender.  The united states would have began bombing major cities like tokyo, which would have devistated japan, and its economy. Because tokyo was back then and still is a major part of japan.

Basically it would have devistated both sides. So yea we killed 180,000.
But if we wouldnt have used the atomic bomb, 10x that number would have been dead. think about the big picture.

all i was saying is america has a history of using nukes and no else has. i agree dropping them probably saved more lives than they killed i even said that b4, but two wern't necessary either america had already flexed its muscle and shown what they were capable of, surrender was innevitable japan were doomed b4 the nukes were even dropped they just wouldn't accept defeat
