Gotta go with Pac, and then 40-Water after that.
To clarify, I was going off of the list, if I wasn't it would easily be Quik.

why this list.

MC Ren - N.W.A. obviously. When Cube left, it was Ren that continued on and was the best rhymer in N.W.A. After N.W.A., he ran the underground for years.

Ice Cube - If I have to explain, please deactivate your account.

E-40 - Outside of 'Pac, maybe the greatest Bay rapper ever. 40's slang is now the norm, as 40 was the first to say seezy and use other slang now used by artist like Snoop Dogg.

2Pac - see Ice Cube

Snoop Dogg - see Ice Cube and 2Pac

why they got left out

Ice T - I almost put Ice T on here, but I don't think his albums or his career can match anyone up there. Sales aside, Ice T was good, and his career was solid, but I think of him like the Coolio, or Xzibit of the gangsta rap era. His the perfect face to put in the mainstream. But outside of that era his career was not much.

Eazy E and Dr. Dre - they didn't/don't write their own lyrics.

Too $hort - only really had two topics he touched on, money and hoes. He was good at it, his career is over 20 years and he stilll has radio hits. But not quite up to par. Like Ice T, I almost put him on the list though.

DJ Quik - As an artist, no doubt Quik should be on here. As just a rapper, well not really. I mean, Quik is nice, but compared to 2Pac and Ice Cube, I think Quik is not up there. Quik's lyrics were always his weakest point in his game, and he sometimes gets into the Kurupt Fuck a Bitch slump.

Any other questions.

Too $hort > MC Ren

As an artist I would put Dr. Dre as the top dog. Almost everything major that happened on the West Coast involved the Doc.

As an MC I would put 2Pac as the top dog not just on skills but catalogue, influence, etc.

are you kidding me?  too short better than ren?  please.  every song of too shorts is about pimpin.  ren is way better.

I'm thinking career wise rather than MC skills.

Too $hort released better albums IMO.

The D.O.C. wrote Snoop's lyrics on Doggystyle.  That's why he hasn't been the same since.

ren is tight as fuck ... but he didnt talk about alotta shit either....he talked about saying fuck the police, bitches suckin dick and about lame rappers in the game...while like u said too short also just touched the topics of money and hoes....but he also talked about the ghetto...but he was the originator of the bay....if ren is on there why cant too short be? and cube was actually the best rhymer after nwa....well this my opinion
