news La Coka Nostra, B-Real & Sick Jacken Say Fuck Tony Montana - June 29, 2006 By : SGV

La Coka Nostra is a movement which brings together some or all of the members of groups House Of Pain, Lordz Of Brooklyn and Non-Phixion. With Everlast leading the way with Ill Bill, this Supergroup of white Rappers/Producers will soon be blazing the industry with the rugged bully-foot Hip Hop music, as each member always has. Everlast, Danny Boy and DJ Lethal dropped their debut in 1992 on Tommy Boy Records, which featured their biggest Hit, the DJ Muggs produced "Jump Around."

In 1996 they went their seperate ways, Everlast found success as a Solo artist, DJ Lethal joined Rap/Rockers Limp Bizkit. Nearly ten years later, the trio join up again, but this time with their good friend Kaves of Lordz of Brooklyn, Ill Bill of Non-Phixion and a host of others to form La Coka Nostra.

As you could expect, the production on the La Coka Nostra project is going to be dark and sinister. Enlisting not only group members like DJ Lethal and Ill Bill, but extended family Q-Unique, Cynic of Street Platoon/Sick Symphonies and Sick Jacken of Psycho Realm/Sick Symphonies. The latter of the five, Jacken, also finds his way onto the mic, with B-Real, Everlast and Ill Bill on the hard hitting "Fuck Tony Montana." Everlast vehemently spits out lyrics like:

"Drugs, Money And Sex, Revolution Is Next, This Ain't Strong Armed Robbery, We Got A Small Armory, Fuck Cracks And Glocks, We Shootin' Back At The Cops, Deep Under Cover Like We Runnin' Black OPs"

If you dig that, believe it only gets better. Check that out below:

La Coka Nostra feat. B-Real & Sick Jacken - Fuck Tony Montana

We also have a song from La Coka member Big Left. The Queens Born, Bronx native of Italian descent spews out flame for all his "Drug Smugglers, Gun Busters, Fed Duckers" over ominous keys. Check out "Head Nod Shit" below:

news Yung Walt & Dubcnn Present: "The Presentation" Mixtape D/L - June 27, 2006 By : Rud

April 2006 was the first time that dubcnn readers we're exposed to a talented youngster by the name of Yung Walt, the Inglewood High graduate who swiftly opted for a career in music. Initial criticism by those close to him of that decision soon turned to delight as Yung Walt hopped on a hit single with Snoop Dogg for the "Welcome To Tha Church Tha Album" ["Shake Dat Sh-t"] a cut he wrote lyrics and performed the hook for.

Since then he was been busy working with various producers such as; Battlecat, Terrace Martin, 1500 and Chordz.

He released the solo album which we showcased music from called "Hustle 2 Struggle" under the independent label "Ghetto Child ENT" run by himself and partners Bubba and Mac Jackson - successfully selling over 3,000 units in L.A.

Over the past few months he has been working on a new mixtape to showcase his latest material to the world aptly titled; "The Presentation" [Hosted by: DJ Qwess] - where better he thought than to allow dubcnn.com to "Present" the mixtape to world as a Free download! We took some time with Yung Walt to find out what he thought of the mixtape: "I feel this mixtape is more like an album just because of the topics I'm on yet although im still lyrically going bananas - I'm just warming up!

He went on to explain how he feels about his position right now; "I feel i am the underground King of L.A. yet still I'm not the only one...we're all Kings its just I'm working to be one of the most mentioned."

When asked what he feels is the track on the mixtape that he enjoyed making and has become a favourite he told dubcnn: "My favorite song is 'Write My Wrongs' where I get political over the Lupe Fiasco 'Kick Push' track." - dont take his word for it, sample that and other tracks in the tracklist and look further down for the exclusive full mixtape download courtesy of Yung Walt and dubcnn.com. This is one not to be missed, shouts to Yung Walt & Ghetto Child ENT.

Chag G has been one of our visitors favorite featured artists for years, with his soulful beats, smooth singing and hard raps. The multi-talented producer/singer/rapper/designer/director has blessed us with some new music, and he didn't dissapoint!

He's currently been working heavily with Long Beach's original Chucc Taylor, aswell as Young Zeek. He's also completing a duo album with Bokie Loc, who Eastsidaz fans will be familiar with, called "Kinfolk". I'm going to have a separate update on that project in the coming weeks.

Chag has a new heatrock called "Go With The Good", featuring Chucc Taylor and Young Zeek, for which he recently shot a video. I have both the song and the video available for ya'll to check out, don't sleep on it because it's some real good music:

I'm not done yet though, I have two more tracks for ya'll to download, also with Chucc & Zeek. The first one features both of them and is called "Problems", another laid back Chag G production, get it below:

Chag G - Problems (ft. Young Zeek & Chucc Taylor) (Prod. by Chag G)

The second one is features only Chucc, and is called "Ride Wit Me". Once again, this is not to be slept on:

Incase you never had the chance to pick up Chag G's street album "Finally On Wax", which was basically put together by dubcnn visitors, who selected the tracks to get on it through our "Bump It Or Dump It" voting system, you can still order it now by clicking here, or by clicking on the cover to your right.

Chag G also has myspace page with alot of info, check it out at myspace.com/chagg213.

We're going to have more Chag G updates very soon, like I said on the "Kinfolk" album with Bokie Loc. Chag G also recently shot a mini-movie on AIDS, which I'm going to let ya'll check out in the next update, so stay tuned!

news Ice Cube First Week Sales + New Video Coming Soon - June 13, 2006 By : Nima

Ice Cube is still laughin'! His latest independent release "Laugh Now, Cry Later", which came out last tuesday, moved 150,000 units the first week, coming in at Nr. 3 on the Billboard charts. Those are great numbers for an independent release that didn't have major backing, and they show the pull that Cube still has in the rap game.

He also recently wrapped up the second video of the album, "Go To Church", featuring Snoop Dogg & Lil Jon. The song is a certified banger, and is sure to get the clubs shaking! We'll be back with the video as soon as we get it.

Incase you've been sleeping and haven't picked up your copy of "Laugh Now, Cry Later" yet, what are you waiting for? Cube put together a raw rap album, which is hard to find these days, so get on your way to the record store and support it!

news Dubcnn Throwback Joint: "The Rain" by Peeps & King Lou - June 9, 2006 By : Lil Jay

For this week's Dubcnn Throwback Joint edition we got female rapper Peeps who put it down for the West Coast a couple years back on her album "Whichwayzup", released in 2000. Peeps was backed by West Coast veteran Battlecat, as he was responsible for the majority of the album's production. Her debut was anticipated ever since she appeared on MC Ren's 1998 album "Ruthless For Life" on the song "Pimpin' Is Free".

Who knows what the lady is up to nowadays, but she definitely had some talent and that's why we decided to feature her this week. Another good reason to highlight this track is the guest artist, which is the late great King Lou (R.I.P). Our lost angel contributed a dope verse which meshed perfectly with Peeps who did her thing on it. The song we got is called "The Rain" and it was produced by Battlecat. This is one of those feel good joints that you gotta love, especially in the summertime.

Join us on this weeks throwback ride and check out this very slept-on song "The Rain" from her album "Whichwayzup".

news Capital Prophet Records Gets "Rebellyus" - June 8, 2006 By : Adon

Sometimes it takes one individual to rise up, to be the voice, to speak the truth with no restriction. When that individual speaks, people listen, and a revolution can begin. Belly (aka Rebellyus) is bringing “The Revolution” this summer through major independent label Capital Prophet Records.

Born April 7, 1984 in the Middle East, Belly grew up surrounded by war, violence, and atrocities no child should ever have to see. When he moved to Canada with his family, Belly saw the money and wealth that was only a dream in his birthplace. Turning to the streets at a very young age made Belly strong and resilient but he needed an outlet to release the aggressions building up within him. It was rap music that would serve as this outlet.

Belly began recording professionally in 2001. He recorded demos in Chicago and LA. Unfortunately, problems with the law led to the closure of the label and the incarceration of key figures within the label. But this didn't discourage Belly, he kept writing, and kept grinding. He released a number of mixtapes and slowly built a buzz in his hometown of Ottawa, Canada.

In 2005 he penned “Be Easy” and “Smile For Me” for label mate, Massari. Both these songs appeared on Massari's debut album and became top 10 hits in Canada.

With the taste of success, he began writing and recording his own material for “The Revolution”. The double CD is set for international release this summer. Features on the album include Fabolous, Scarface, & Mario Winans.

Capital Prophet, along with Belly, are raising the bar in Canadian urban music.

We have 3 songs to download below:
Belly "Let Me Live"
Belly feat. Scarface "I Swear"
Belly "Let Me Put You On"

Make sure to check out Belly's offical page to get more info on mixtapes, and see an exclusive video with Scarface.

news Daz & Rick Ross Shootin' Video To "On Some Real Shit" - June 5, 2006 By : Nima

We premiered the Daz & Rick Ross collaboration "On Some Real Shit" back in april right here. The song was leaked as a street single, but the tremendous feedback made the label get behind it, and Daz, Ross and Jermaine Dupri, the producer of the track, got together in Miami, FL to shoot a video to the street banger.

The song is set to be featured on Daz' highly anticipated So So Def debut "So So Gangsta", which is slated for an August 2006 release. I have a couple pictures from the Dogg Pound Gangsta and Miami's relentless hustler, check them out below:

news 6-6-6 Marks The Cruzifixion! New Crack From O.Cruz - June 5, 2006 By : SGV

It’s official Powerhouse labels like Interscope/Geffen are signing Latinos! On June 2nd, 2006, Omar Cruz announced to the world that he would be the first artist to release a record on BYI Entertainment, now that the label got a 50/50 deal with Interscope/Geffen. For anyone disappointed that he didn’t sign with Dr. Dre (though BYI has a deal with the same people giving Aftermath a deal), the Doc has been and will be close to O Dot giving him personal advice. To celebrate their signing, the Westside’s pride and joy, Omar Cruz, knocked out 14 banging tracks for his DJ Skee hosted “Album before the Album,” The Cruzifixion.

With beats from in-house Producers ROME(10 tracks) and Javie Lopez (2 tracks), O snatched up a beat from Julian Bunetta, who produced for Hush; as well as another producer, by the name of Xtreme. With all original tracks, this could be considered a Street Album, more so than a Mixtape. Keeping the features to a minimum, O Dot only uses family as the guests on Cruzifixion. Javie Lopez’ artist Raw Deal (whom we introduced here and will have more on soon) drops the hook on “My World”. BYI’s in house singer J.Ortez lends his vocals on two tracks (“We Right Here” & “Let’s Go (The Show)”). Lastly, O’s right hand man, Merzevelli hops on “Cops Gang Bang,” and is the only other person to have a verse on the entire street album, outside of O.Cruz.

We have two tracks for you to check out, which you may have heard but have not been able to download. As usual, we got the exclusives for you. In the tracklist you’ll find the L.A. anthem “We Rydaz.”

We pump that soft and that hard like we El Debarge to the beat of the rhythm of the City Of Gods

We then have “Cops Gang Bang” featuring Merzevelli. The ominous ROME beat and a “Screwed Up” O.Cruz voice sample set the serious tone for this ode to crooked cops.

Walk with me so you can see how these LAPD muthafuckas is living so dirty, some of ‘em claim hoods, some of ‘em still ride, some of ‘em is movin’ birdies

Check these tracks out in the Tracklisting and head over to BYIEntertainment.com to order this Street Album on Tuesday, June 6th, 2006 (6-6-6).

Tracklisting:

01. The Cruzifixion (Prod: ROME BYI Ent.)
02. The Take Over (Prod: ROME for BYI Ent.)

news Omar Cruz & BYI Ent. Sign 50/50 Deal W/ Interscope/Geffen!! - June 3, 2006 By : SGV

Tonight, a select few got to witness history in the making. Omar Cruz announced that he would be the first artist off of BYI Entertainment (and partners Mr. Cartoon and Estevan Oriol of Joker Brand/SA Studios) since the label inked a 50/50 Deal with Geffen and industry super-power Interscope Records. To make it real official, Tom Pununzio of Geffen and Jimmy Iovine of Interscope were in the house co-signing O Dot, LuLu, Rome and the whole BYI heavily. Also in the house for this event was one of the illest producers out right now, period Javie Lopez; Long Beach native Crooked I; Sen Dog of the legendary Cypress Hill; Skinhead Rob of Expensive Taste/Soul Assassins Family; VA's DJ Noe Dout and others all showing love and support for Omar Cruz and BYI.

Back in late 2004, I introduced ya'll to a name that was randomly heard around the L.A. underground scene and to a label that was a virtual unknown at the time. A year and a half later and they've done a complete 180. This has been a long time coming for an artist like Omar Cruz and a label like BYI. They've made it this far with little to no major affiliation in the Rap world. O Dot now has the blessings of big-wigs Jimmy Iovine and Tom Pununzio, not to mention, a Hip Hop legend like Dr. Dre giving personal advice. All those who had doubts about whether O.Cruz was really signing to a major should be feeling real stupid right now. This was no Publicity Stunt, O.Cruz and BYI did it and they did it big.

The event was nothing but smiles and good times. Drinks and food (Tacos, Taquitos and more direct from Tito's Tacos) were on the house. Mr. Cartoon brought the lowriders out. DJ Noe Dout was spinning the hot shit (including the up coming mixtape from Omar Cruz The Cruzifixion, which, in my opinion, blows his other two mixtapes, and they were extremely hot to begin with, out the water). As I stated before, we'll be bringing you the up to date news and on this historical event. We've been your number one spot for O.Cruz and BYI news for a hot minute, now others are trying to catch up, but they're still falling short. This is just a wrap up report of what went down tonight. We got some exclusive Photo's and an exlcusive video that only the people the party got to see. But, as we always do here... we bringing it to ya'll on here courtesy of BYI!

Lastly, here's a little audio clip of Mr.Cartoon and Omar Cruz talking about the deal and giving their thanks to all those who made it possible. The audio maybe a bit high, so do not have your speakers too loud right off the bat.

Mr. Cartoon & Omar Cruz Talk About The I/G/A Deal

It's BYI BITCH! Check back tomorrow for more. Accept no substitutes!

news Exclusive Audio From Stico and Da Bandit - June 2, 2006 By : Lil Jay

A few months ago Dubcnn laced you with the 411 on the upcoming album from Stico and Da Bandit, and today we bring you a first listen. We got an exclusive MP3 download of their first single called "Only U", featuring Nire with production by West Coast hitmaker J. Wells. They hit the ladies with the first single and they will hit the streets with the second.

They are currently finishing up the still untitled album and putting the last touches on it. It's scheduled to drop in the 3rd quarter of 2006. The album has other features from Kurupt, Sly Boogy, Diamonique, Noelle, amongst others, with production by Richie Rich, Battlecat, Fingazz, Dr. Stank, and Crackajack. The Inland Empire duo recently did a Fingazz heater with Latina R&B newcomer La La on the hook. La La has hot single called "La La La" featuring Mack 10 which is about to hit the airwaves.

On top of that, Stico and Da Bandit are also doing two new mixtapes, the first is "Real Spit Vol. 2" and the second is a "Cali Untouchable" mixtape with DJ Strong. As you can see they are on the grind real heavy. As Stico said: "We just want to say respect to all the MC's and Producers that have embraced us and our grind from Sly Boogy, Bishop Lamont, Dirty Birdy and Fingazz to MC Eiht and for Kam being a stand up man. All the DJ's that have given us feedback good and bad. This Rogue Souljah Movement is felt and thank you Dubcnn for being that West Coast voice."

Stay tuned for more info on the album, but for now check out the single from the album:

news Jurassic 5 Are Back July 25th & Launch Tour [Audio] - June 2, 2006 By : Nima

In celebration of their highly anticipated new album, "Feedback", Interscope recording artists Jurassic 5 will launch a massive nationwide tour beginning in Seattle shortly before the album's July 25, 2006 release and concluding nearly three months later. The group will hit close to three-dozen cities. Highlights include two shows at the Filmore in San Francisco on July 22nd and 23rd, a show at Stubb's BBQ in Austin, Texas on August 1st, an August 14th stop at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., a performance at the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver on September 9th, and shows at the House of Blues in Chicago (September 1st), Las Vegas (September 13th), and in the group's hometown of Los Angeles (July 25th and 26th).

Feedback follows J-5's critically acclaimed releases "Power in Numbers" and "Quality Control". The albums first single is a soulful collaboration with the Dave Mathews Band titled, "Work It Out". The song is the natural culmination of a close relationship the two group's formed while touring together, and a fitting introduction to J-5's new effort.

"It's a step up for us because we have been basically known as an underground group. We've been known as a backpacker group. This album still has elements of that because that's who we are, but at the same time we are also trying to step into another realm," said Soup, one of the group's four emcees.

DJ/Producer Nu-Mark handles the majority of the album's production, including the standout tracks "Future Sound,", "Red Hot", and "Where We At," which features a vocal bit from Mos Def. Other producers include Scott Storch ("Brown Girl"), Salaam Remi ("Radio", "Get It Together"), aswell as Exile & Bean One.

He steps aside intermittently to allow inspired contributions from, among others, super producer Scott Storch (Brown Girl) and the mastermind behind many a Nas and Fugees hit, Salaam Remi (Radio and Get It Together). In addition, noteworthy up-and-comers Exile and Bean One both contribute powerful tracks.
