interview HASH   (March 2007) | Written By: Rud

When Los Angeles is mentioned in relation to Hip-Hop what comes to most peoples minds is the fact that the location birthed Gangsta Rap. It is more often than not overlooked and ignored when it comes to commercial music and lyrics and as a result one half Latino, half Indian artist has hit the scene hoping to change all that.

With his debut album "Latinz Finest" ready for its April 2007 release, Hash is ready to present a sound that lets the Hip-Hop community know that there is more to L.A. than violence and a gangsta lifestyle that is so often portrayed.

Growing up as a child, Hash was encouraged by his mother to harness his interest in music into something that can promote and affect the community in a positive light. With his interracial back ground he grew up with a different outlook towards the world as he wasn’t apart of just one community.

His short yet detailed journey to 2007 has seen him within a group situation before he became a solo artist and as so often happens with groups, money and trust become an issue and the collective disbands. By the time Hash was 17 he had been introduced to Ambassador Kash, a then producer for Tha Row, and took part in meetings relating to a possible deal. Due to the environment he decided he did not feel comfortable and although nothing came out of it Hash gained valuable knowledge and experience at a young ages.

When you get down to listening to Hash' music you instantly realise that he brings a variety of styles to the industry, whether it be feel good music, party anthems or telling his story over a banger; he is more than capable to deliver a song in his own unique way. For a new artist it is rare to find that they can deliver catchy hooks and captivating lyrics while maintaining a tale that most people can relate to in one way or another.

His lyrics often bear true to those aforementioned words from his mother when you hear him touching on topics within communities that most others shy away from including, drug abuse, religion, physical abuse within a relationship and more.

What also sets Hash apart from some other artists his how he uses his ability to look through other people's eyes as well as his own experiences. He enables the listener to step into that person's shoes to feel their pain, passion or love.

This, along with his business knowledge and skill has been developed over the last 3 years with the help of Yvette Wilson (Andell from The Parkers) and her husband Jerome "Mooch" Harry who have given him vast insight into the music industry and shown him ways to expand into entertainment.

Alongside his business partner Roy "Bugzy" Lopez, Hash has opened .45 Caliber Entertainment which is the promotional company which provides street team services, throws concerts and club nights. The parent company of .45 Caliber Entertainment is Self Made Ent. which is also the record label.

So far Hash has been worked with and been featured on mixtapes with Damizza, Get It Ryte Records, Lock'd Down Records, OG Dogg and Paygyrl Slim while also on the soundtrack to ANOKHA, an independent Indian film he also starred in as  "Ash."

Below you can see the Track List for his debut solo album "Latinz Finest" as well as three exclusive downloads for you to sample. The album hits stores on April 10, 2007 and will be celebrated with a show with the Yin Yang Twins in Bakerfield. You can also cath him
