He told us about all this, aswell as him working with Dr. Dre, his first album, why the West will never make it without uniting, and how it feels to be in the middle of the Row/DPG beef. We have the audio and the transcript available. Feel free to leave feedback: nima@dubcnn.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

dubcnn.com: You were born in Texas and moved to Cali at young age. Do you consider yourself strictly westcoast or do you have strong ties with the south?

I consider myself like I have some ties to the South cause it's in me, you know? I be out there with my family and shit, so yeah I got some ties with the south. But I'm a West Coast muthafucka, you feel me?

dubcnn.com: In 1997 you were in the Zoo Crew with K-9 and Natural Born and released the album "Migrate, Adapt or Die" produced by Tony and Julio G. Are you still cool with the Zoo Crew or have you left that behind you.

Nah, Zoo Crew, we all still homies, that's the hood. I'm from the Zoo, that's the gang, that's the hood. So we're sitll all homies form the hood, we all still fuckin around with each other. But as far as Zoo Crew the Rap Group goes, I don't know if we ever gone do somethin' again, but we all from the Zoo. Everybody still gone fuck wit each other, like me, Natural Born, K-9, all of us, Zoo Crew is Zoo Crew. Like WS Bug and all of them. The Zoo gone always exist, we still gone end up fuckin around.

dubcnn.com: Most people first heard you on the song "You Don't Wanna Fuck Wit This", where you collaborated with Daz Dillinger & Bad Azz. How did that go down?

Shit, we was all in New York actin' bad! Me, Daz, Bad Azz, Kurupt, matter of fact we was out there and did this shit Change The Game Remix with Jay-Z. We all participated in on that, I ain't do nothin' but like the adlibs in the background, I didn't get no credit or nothin' for that shit. But it was an experience for all of us!

dubcnn.com: How did the deal with Empire Music Werks happen?

My man Storm, he manages Mobb Deep, that's how that came about. We just put it together, and they felt the music, they wanted to do the deal, muthafuckas plugged me up, gave us a deal for a quarter mill, muthafuckas gave me 100,000 up front, and that's how it came about!

dubcnn.com: What's your relationship with them now?

Shit, we still got a good relationship now, you know? It's just that they didn't promote my album good, so if I was ever to do business with them again, they'd have to promote my shit right, and come with that proper ammount of money, shit it's all love! Money talks, bullshit walks!

dubcnn.com: The lineup of guests on "The Jakal" was very impressive, you have most big names from the west on there! How did you hook up with all these people for your record?

Well shit, pretty much, as far as West Coast and East Coast, I know alotta muthafuckas man. So it's like basically all the homies, everybody I fucked with, you know? It's alotta people that ain't even on the album that I do fuck with, and they ain't on it! It just came about through friendships and relationships you know?

dubcnn.com: What happened to the song Snoop Dogg was supposed to have on The Jakal? It was on all the tracklistings we had seen but somehow it isn't on the final product.

Yeah, we didn't end up usin' it, you know? It was just on some political shit... It wasn't shit! *laughs*

dubcnn.com: Are there still people you'd look forward to work with, or did you have'em all already?

I don't really wanna work with no muthafuckas really, except for the peopleI already fucked with, like my homies, like Bad Azz, Kurupt, fuckin' Jayo, Mobb Deep, fuckin Ras Kass, Scipio, all them dudes. I wanna work with my people, my homies. As far as other niggaz, I'm not really... I mean I love workin' wit Dr. Dre, but as far as new muthafuckas, I'm not really into that shit! I wanna work with like the females! I know that shits sounds crazy but that's just what I'm on right now. I wanna do shit with like Gwen Stefani and shit... You know? The females in the game, just like deal with them, experiment! But other muthafuckas, I like T.I., I'd work with T.I., or with Luda. Muthafuckas like that. That's about it. My man Peety Crakk, we gone do somethin'. But I'm not into that shit no more, I wanna do my music, you feel me?

dubcnn.com: You mentioned Dr. Dre, you have hooked up with him a couple times.. How did that happen?

Shit Dre, he heard me, he felt me. I used to run with Snoop Dogg, and it was like Dre pulled me to the side, we talk, chop it up, he told me he's gone lace me, kept his word, laced me and it just evolved from there! We've been on good terms ever since!

dubcnn.com: How much would you rate "The Jaka" out of ten?

To me man, the Jakal... I love the shit out The Jakal man! I felt that shit, it was real! It was all me, nothin' fabricated, I rate that shit a fuckin' 10 on my level, you know what I'm sayin?

dubcnn.com: So how are you gonna top that on your new record?

My new record? It's gonna be worth the level 20! You feel me? *laughs* We gonna bring the levels up! The new record is like... This muthafucka is bangin', it's gonna be impressive!

dubcnn.com: You were featured on several tracks of the "Rock The World MCs" compilation. How did that compilation happen?

You mean that one where we re-did them old school joints and shit?

dubcnn.com: Yeah that one too, it was two of 'em.

Yeah man as far as them shits, all them shits was dope! Everything I did with Rocks The Worlds, that's Storm. Storm is on Rocks The World. Shit man, I had fun doin' all that shit! My favorite joint on that old school shit was that Special Ed "Got It Made" shit. That shit was a banger, and alotta people ain't heard it! That shit was stupid!

dubcnn.com: You're part of the group Riflemen, with Kurupt, Jayo Feloney & Mobb Deep. How did that project come about, how did it get put together?

Well we was all always already fuckin' around, you know? I already fucked with Mobb Deep and shit, so it was already love from that. And it was like we was always fuckin' around, and me Jayo all of us we was always doin' songs. And Storm, he manages Mobb Deep, he saw that! He was like "Man, ya'll niggaz should be in a group! Ya'll niggaz is dope!" So we was like fuck it let's fuck around like that! Let's do it! And it just evolved like that, and we all started stayin' on it!

dubcnn.com: It's been some words exchanged between the Riflemen camp and Daz... You released a song called "Whats Beef". You used to work with Daz a few years ago... what happened?

It was like... Cuzz said some funny ass shit on a song he did towards, I guess Kurupt and Jayo. But he like shot a indirect love towards me, on some hoe shit! You ain't gotta speak on me! Some shit like "40, don't be rappin' wit them niggaz" or like "they punkin' you or somethin'".. I mean it's evident that I'm rappin' with them, so you callin' me a punk! It's like, nigga who the fuck is you to tell me how to get my bread, or how to do what I do, nigga! I didn't say that when niggaz was over there fuckin' wit Snoop! And niggaz used to go around you and you was fuckin' wit Suge! You was signed to Suge! And Snoop and everybody was beefin' witchu, mad at you! I wasn't sayin' "Yeah fuck Daz!" Niggaz don't give a fuck man that's hoe shit man! Fuck that rap shit, niggaz is on a gangsta level man, on a personal level man. A nigga ain't gotta go there like that! And naturally really, I ain't got no beef with Daz cuzz, if I had beef with Daz man, straight up, I'm straight forward wit mine, I'd shoot his ass! But that's not me, it's not in my caracter to tell a muthafucka.. If I don't like you you got a problem man. But I don't have no problems with him like that, I just wanted to correct him on his words and let him know what beef is homie! Like you can say all this, but nigga, beef is really when you doin' all the shit that I do to a muthafucka like that. Not just always talkin' shit about every goddamn body and all that shit. And I was just like "nigga keep me up out that shit man!" I ain't never got in that shit wit dude, I ain't in that bullshit! That's some hoe shit! And when it all ends man, all we doin' is fuckin' each other up anyway man. We all need to come together and lock this shit back in man! And get it poppin!

dubcnn.com: That's the truth, because everybody is divided so much. Do you think that there is any hope for alotta these cats to get back together? Cause it doesn't really look that way.

Yep, I think it's more the egos man! Nigga if Daz would call me today and we act like the shit never happened! We can act like shitn ever happened man, I laugh it off, chop it up with him or whatever man! And it's like, it's about muthafuckas ego's man, you gotta let that shit go! Be a man! Nigga stand up and be like "It's cool, fuck that shit!" That's all niggaz gotta do and that shit can crack off man! But niggaz lettin' they egos get in the way, or they think the fans ain't gone like them no more if he said this or said that or whatever, you know what I mean? It's about niggaz bein' men man. That's how we gonna conquer shit, it's niggaz standing the fuck up!

dubcnn.com: When are you positive that we can go pick up the Riflemen project in stores?

Shit man, we ain't got the deal sealed yet. But I hope by the summer atleast! But no matter how long we take, it's coming! So I can't put no definite mark on it I just know we gonna keep servin' the streets aslong as we got to! We gonna stay at it, that's the typa niggaz we is. We street niggaz so we gonna keep it grimey!

dubcnn.com: It's been some people sayin' that Mobb Deep ain't really supportin' the project like that, it's not one of they priorities, it's just a lil somethin' they doin' on the side...

Aw man, everybody put they percentage into it man! Whoever said that don't know what the fuck they talkin' about! You heard it from the horses mouth! So it's gonna crack man, it's alotta niggaz that wanna see shit fail man! And that's what the fuck the problem is too. That's all what it resolves about, muthafuckas trying to get shit back crackin', niggaz gotta quit that hatin' shit out man! Don't hate on the next niggaz pocket nigga! Don't go around talkin' shit about niggaz cause niggaz is gettin' shit poppin'! Nigga get yo shit poppin' nigga! You don't see me hatin' on nobody's shit nigga cause I could give two flyin' fucks! At the end of the day it's what's goin' in my pocket!

dubcnn.com: You said a deal hasn't been signed yet. But what are ya'll trying to go with, a big deal, or a independent deal...

Shit man, it's like whatever makes the money! Whatever's bringin' the money! That's what's gonna crack! Yeah niggaz want it on a major level, you know? That's how we want it. So until then, we just gonna keep mashin' it out! I mean naturally a nigga wants it on a major level, cause you need that machine! But me personally man, I'm independent mayne! I own myself man! Don't nobody own 40 Glocc man, I own my OWN shit! I make my OWN money! And I make MONEY! I'm far from broke, but I know what it feels like to be broke! So that's like one of the last things on my mind man. Me I'd be like fuck a machine! Fuck a major! I don't need that! I own myself I'm independent! And I'm gettin' CAKED THE FUCK OUT! So I ain't really worried!

dubcnn.com: Who handled the production on the Riflemen?

On the Riflemen you got Havoc, you got Blaqtoven, you got J. Wells he did somethin' for us... Alchemist did his thing, I think Battlecat is gonna lace us wit somethin', yeah Battlecat gonna do somethin' on there.

dubcnn.com: What about guest appearances?

Guest appearances? We are the guest appearances! We not havin' too many guest appearances.

dubcnn.com: I heard Roscoe is on there?

Yeah Roscoe, but I mean to us, he's not a guest appearance! Cause he's a Rifle! Ras Kass, he's a Rifle! So it's family. To us that's not like a guest appearance, you're one of us, we rollin as one, it's a movement!

dubcnn.com: You're pushing your group the Zoo Babies. Tell us about them.

The Zoo Babies man.. They some dope lil young muthafuckas man. These niggaz is fuckin' kids, they babys, and everything they say is everything they do. They on my car! They my lil homeboys! So muthafuckas get it twisted, see my lil niggaz wit me, and you see them lil niggaz you like "that nigga rollin' wit kids". Nah, he ain't rollin' wit kids, he rollin' wit torpedos! And we gonna mash on anything movin'! All I gotta do is given' the green light and it's on! But besides that, rhymes and all that shit, they killin' it man! They dope, they talented, and they gonna definitely stand out! And they finna stand out even more this year!

dubcnn.com: What can we expect from their record lyrically? What are they talkin about?

They talkin' about they struggle, when you hear them it's really how they are, from they eyes. Lil gangbanging wild muthafuckas and how they see right now. That's basically what its about, they touchin' all kind of stuff. But it represents the average lil young nigga on these streets, what he's going through. It's like that. Them lil niggaz they crackin'. Niggaz ain't have shit, niggaz ain't have nothin' to hide! Yeah niggaz mommas smoke crack, and what? Niggaz don't give a fuck. Niggaz bust a U-Turn wit that shit, turn that shit around! Startin' to have money and shit, gettin' they shit right!

dubcnn.com: From what they told me, the record is droppin' on Zoo Life/Universal in February/March is that correct?

Yeah, we trying to... Well we got the deal wit the people at Universal Distributions, but it's inked yet. So I don't like puttin' shit out there like that, if it ain't inked yet. The deal is supposed to be finalized but it's not inked yet, they haven't shot me my ink yet, it's not finalized.

dubcnn.com: You have a street style with a lyrical edge. Which artist or producer do you feel you have the best chemistry with?

Uhhm... Shit, Riflemen! *laughs* Riflemen, all the homies, Bad Azz, Ras Kass, all the niggaz I fuck wit! That's why I said that I'd rather fuck wit them! I'm into new niggaz if the new niggaz is dope, but as far as lookin' around for them, that ain't me. I like fuckin' wit my niggaz.

dubcnn.com: You're cool with the Death Row Family, and you're cool with the DPG's like Bad Azz and all them who are not cool with each other. How does it feel to be in the middle of all this beef?

Man, it's crazy! Cause it's like a catch 22. It's just... It's hard to decribe man, it's fucked up that a nigga gotta be in that situation like that. But, I'm a gangsta, I handle mine. To me, really, it's just alotta bullshit that someway niggaz need to just handle it man. Knock it all out the way! I don't really see it man, I don't feel that shit. It's hard for me to decribe cuzz, you'd have to be me and see through my eyes. And that's another thing I'm give muthafuckas wit my album! I'ma give them a DVD, through my eyes! Of what I see! Niggaz I know, all kinds of shit on it. It's real ill shit! And when you see it, and see the live footage, and see my lifestyle, then niggaz gone be like "whoa". You'll see what the fuck I'm comin' from when I say it's hard from me to explain.

dubcnn.com: On top of all that you're also working hard on your upcoming solo record. How is that sounding, compared to your first one?

Shit man, that muthafucka is sounding banging man! I got a couple different guest appearances that I didn't have on my first one, I got like Kokane on this one, I got this new producer cats they called FatFish they dope man. FatFish Ent. I got them on there. Prodigy, Havoc, Alchemist, fuckin'.. It's wild man! And it's not too many features, I got the Zoo Babies, Ras Kass and Bad Azz, and that's about it.

dubcnn.com: And the Riflemen.

Yeah, Riflemen, that's mandatory.

dubcnn.com: Do you have a name for it yet?

Yeah I have a name, it's "Retreat From Running", you know? And that stands just for like niggaz on some tough shit, runnin' from shit runnin' from they fears, scared from they fears. And it's talkin' about the game, how it is, how it's fucked up over here on the West Coast. And just about niggaz runnin'. Stop runnin'! Stop actin' like you don't wanna be cool wit this muthafucka and cool wit this muthafucka just because of your image! Be a man and be real! Keep it gangsta! You ain't gotta fake! You ain't gotta hide it! Stop runnin! That's what it means. That was the concept of it. Nigga stop runnin after these labels, stop lettin' our DJ's fuck us up. Our DJ's don't bang our shit, nigga let's get together and whoop they muthafuckin' ass! Cause to me that's a hater and when a hater hate on my money... This rap game is like dope sales, if a nigga stop your dope sales on the streets, actually nah wait, you ain't even gotta put it as dope sales. You sellin' ANYTHING. And a nigga stoppin' you from makin' your money on the streets, what do you do? That's hatin'! Nigga we gonna fuck you up! So I'ma put it like this, these DJ's over here, who ain't spinnin' our shit, we gonna fuck you up! Because you hatin' on our money, you stoppin' our money! Muthafucka you don't judge who's shit you gone play and who's shit you not gone play! Nigga you gonna play our shit! If you stay next door to me and you tellin' me you don't play my shit cause you don't like it, I'ma fuck you up! Because now you stoppin' all the muthafuckas that got potential to like my shit from hearing my shit! And you stoppin' my money! So that's basically what it's all about. Retreat From Runnin'. Stop hidin', face your fears nigga, and let's stop the fake shit.

dubcnn.com: Are we still gonna see this in 2005, or is it gonna be 2006.

Man, I'm finna push this muthafucka for 2005. I'm trying to drop this new mixtape, it's gonna be off the hook, I'm finna drop tidal waves on these muthafuckas man! Check game! Trying to kill the streets right now, so I'm gonna just flood the streets wit everything right now!

dubcnn.com: So you have three projects dropping, Riflemen, Zoo Babies and your solo. Which are personally the most hyped about?

Man, let me tell you, I get so caught up in that shit my goddamn self! I'm hyped about all of them man! I say to myself like FUCK! I get so hyped up when I start doin' some songs wit the Zoo Babies, and I don't wanna stop doin' they shit! I gotta stop myself and take myself away from that and work on my album, and then I be all stuck into that and I gotta take myself from that and go wit the Riflemen and then I don't wanna let that go! Man I'm hyped for all them shits!

dubcnn.com: Could you picture yourself as a mainstream artist goin' on 106 & Park and shit?

Fuck 106 & Park! I consider myself a mainstream street nigga! I could give two flyin' fucks about 106 & Park, or any of that bullshit man. 106 & Park ain't no money to me man, that ain't nothin' but a gang of muthafuckas votin' to get your video played. That don't mean they gone buy your record! I like 106 & Park I support my black people at anything they do, but man, FUCK 106 & Park man *laughs* Buy my shit on the street, buy my shit! Fuck all that hype shit and the glamour shit! Them niggaz got them videos there, them niggaz ain't paid nigga! Niggaz ain't seein' money like that! Some of them is, alot of them ain't!

dubcnn.com: Speakin' of hype and glamour, what do you think of The Game?

I think dude doin' his thang. But shit, I'm focused on 40 Glocc. I'm focusing on myself. I'm not thinking about The Game's, I'm not thinking about the fuckin' Guerilla Blacks, the whatever the fuck is out there right now. And sorry if I ain't mention you. If you take it disrespectful the way I did mention you right now, I don't give a fuck, nigga! I'm a street nigga, nigga! I don't give a fuck! Yeah I'm not thinkin' about them niggaz right now, I'm focused on myself, I'm foncused on real street shit, on really fuckin' wit street niggaz and really trying to get the West back crackin', get that whole vibe back man. Of how we had it man. Niggaz makin' dope ass music man. And if niggaz make dope music I support them man! Let's get this shit back crackin' man, not niggaz comin' wit a gang of bullshit! Nigga we can't get the West back with all this bullshit floatin around! All this old hatin' shit goin' around man! How we gone get the West Coast back, and West Coast niggaz is wearin' pink! That shit ain't green! Nigga I don't support that shit! When I say that ain't green, that mean that shit ain't good, that shit is not official, that shit is bullshit! It ain't green! I don't support that shit man!

dubcnn.com: If everything went according to plan... where would you like to same time next year?

Man I'd like to see myself on a level of where.. Man, I'm sellin' my own records, I'm doin' my thing, Zoo Babies doin' they thing, all my family is straight, everybody I fuck wit, the Riflemen, Ras Kass, Bad Azz, Scipio, everybody, Zoo Babies... Everything straight, lockin' shit down, gettin' shit poppin'. That's where I hope to see myself! Actually fuck that, that's where I AM gonna see myself, cause I don't stop! Gangstaz do what they want, bustas do what they can. And I'm far from a busta, I'm a gangsta homie, I do what the fuck I want.

dubcnn.com: To end off the interview, tell everybody about ya boys here at Dubcnn.com...

dubcnn.com: Shit that's about it for the questions, is there anything you wanna say, anybody you wanna shoutout?

Hell yeah man, look out for my homie, W.S. Bug! He doin' his thang! I damn near forgot him on him doin' some production on my album! He did some production on there, my newer comin' he was on my last album. Lookout for me, I'm supposed to be in this movie called "Book Of Love" it's comin' on B.E.T. January 14th, but you know how that movie shit go! They probably edited my shit all up! I did my part though, so if I'm on it I'm on it, if not fuck it! We'll be on the next shit!
