Dubcnn: Your name, “Airamis” is actually an Israeli name… Do you have any bloodlines that trace back to Israel?

Not that I know of…But I like the meaning/meanings of the name and I identify with most of them. The name means father of a multitude… I really don’t see that… (laughs) but noble, yes that’s all good. I like my name.

Dubcnn: Where are you from originally and what sort of things were you into growing up?

I was born in San Francisco, in the low-income housing area moved to Oakland when I was 14 years old; I have always been into music my whole life doing talent shows, singing at home for family and friends. Sports became a big part of my life, boxing and football, my dad was hard core on teaching me to fight and it paid off big time winning trophy’s and never lost a fight and Fighting was nearly an everyday event in the ghetto. Football was the best part of high school that came to an end too soon because of the hustle selling weed, and smoking getting in gangs and running the streets but always playing with the idea of my music in my head, but the hustling to make money, came first.

Dubcnn: How did you find your voice?

When I was like 4 or 5 years old in our house we did talents shows and everybody had to do something, and my parents always requested me to sing, my mother sung around the house she sound just like Aretha Franklin, so during the talent shows my dad would always have me sing his favorite song “Lets just kiss and say good bye” they loved making me sing the old school soulful songs Al Green, the Jackson 5 and many others so as far as I know I’ve always had the ability.

Dubcnn: How did you get started in the music business?

Well not only am I a R&B Artist I’m also a song writer so I wrote a patriotic song Well Done Soldier Welcome Home… for our troops and it went all over the globe in over 80 countries I preformed it at major events and that song opened the door for me to perform the National Anthem at dozens of Main Events PPV Boxing at the MGM Grand etc…But my heart was always in R&B, so I just started writing songs, buying beats from local producers packaging them together and selling them out of my trunk so to speck. Doing gigs where I could get them and just doing music everywhere I could.

Dubcnn: So how long have you been doing what you are doing now?

I guess I been going strong about 5 years now.

Dubcnn: For those who may not have ever heard you before, how would you describe your unique sound?

I would say I’m R&B with a splash of Hip Hop, with a Bold taste of Soul; I call it R&B hip-hop fusion. My music has an old school feel with a new school swagger. I just try to be me not trying to imitate no body, just being my self, not a follower but a trendsetter.

Dubcnn: What is the most important thing that you would like people to take away after hearing your music, or seeing you perform?

I want them to have a remunerable impacting experience not just the same old same old, I want them to have such a good time that they look forward to the next song, or show, and leave with the understanding that this is the Big Man with the Big Plan.

Dubcnn: When it's all said and done, how would you like the world to remember Airamis?

I wanna be remember as a real man that greatly impacted the world with my song writing and music, I want people to remember me…. my songs to live on like the oldies my parents had me singing and that I genuinely liked myself… for my songs to be preformed by upcoming Artist who are inspired by the music, the style, and the feel of my music.

Dubcnn: How did a record label out of Sweden discover you?

I was doing my own thing putting out music, I had my music on my MySpace building a fan base that was growing quickly, people was feeling me and they found me on MySpace and we started talking they sent me some music produced by Ajami I put lyrics to it that day I wrote the song and put down and sent it back that same night!... and they loved it, they came to the states we recorded and the rest is history…

Dubcnn: What is the difference between Maynea Records and other companies you have worked with?

Maynea Records is about excellence hard work and integrity with a strong commitment that stands behind their Artist. They see the Big Picture, and always have a positive vision for success unlike any of the company’s I’ve worked with in the past… I call it the Maynea Family because we got each other back like a family and we have great respect for each other…

Dubcnn: “In The Zone” was produced by overseas producer, Ajami - - how did the production for that song come about?

When the Label first start talking to me they sent the track by Mani (Money) Ajami, I killed it and they loved it, so when they came to Vegas we went into the studio to put down the 5 tracks they came with… During those days in the studio I saw Ajami was detailed oriented, hard working, and passionate about his craft and a perfectionist which I liked, because it brings out the best in me, which makes us a good team because we bring out the best in each other.…

Dubcnn: Are most of your current and forthcoming songs produced by Ajami?

Right now, yes.

Dubcnn: Speaking of producers, who are some of the other major producers you may have worked with?

I haven’t worked with any major producers other than Ajami as of yet…

Dubcnn: Who are some of the rap artists you’ve been featured with or have collaborated with?

Seeing this is my first record deal, and first single, I haven’t worked with any major Artist as of yet but I look to working with many R&B and Hip Hop Artist in the Very near future.

Dubcnn: What is the local Las Vegas music scene like?

Las Vegas, also known as Sin City is not known for its Hip & R&B scene, but for The Strip and its bright lights, and glamour. But There are Hip-hop & R&B Artist making a Buzz, like My self and many others .

Live music in Las Vegas is pretty much second to none. The ticket prices for a live concert from any current top band will fetch prices higher than almost anywhere else in the world. Arenas at Mandalay Bay and MGM Grand of course host the largest shows, in addition to The Pearl at The Palms & The Joint at Hard Rock, but when it comes Hip hop & R&B music in a Las Vegas Poetry Nightclub in Caesar's Forum, is a HOT hip hop club in Vegas.

Dubcnn: What do you think of the current West Coast music movement?

The West-Coast Hip Hop & R&B is still alive as well, although the sound and feel of the music has changed remarkably since the G-Funk era. Keysha Cole, Ne-Yo, Snoop Dogg, Mack 10 Dr. Dre, E-40, Raekwon and now even New Boyz, Nipsey Hussle, and of Coarse NOW Airamis continue to be major players in the national mainstream, as well as local.

Dubcnn: For your single, “In the Zone” you hooked up with West Coast director, McKinley Presents... Please describe that video experience?

We had a great time filming the video, the video was shot in the Rain Man suit on the 64 floor of Caesar’s Palace.

Jason, the artist I featured on the single, did his thing… All the models and extra’s did an outstanding , along with the crew was on point… I was real please with turn out of the video. A very rewarding experience you can check the video out it’s on my Myspace, and WorldStar HipHop.com and very soon many major Network outlets….

Dubcnn: Who are some singer’s that you admire from ‘back in the day? Moreover, currently?

My all time favorite IS Michael Jackson… as he RIP… to me he is the greatest entertainer of all time. Stevie Wonder, Brian Mcknight, R Kelly, Mary J and many more. Currently I like The Dream’s stuff, Keyshia Cole, Usher, Genuwine, and of course Beyonce and Mario. I like all these artist’s work and style their grind.

Dubcnn: Any last words for the west coast news network?

First, I’d like to thank DUBCNN for this interview, and just want everyone to know that this is just the beginning we have so many hot tracks, that we believe will greatly impact the music industry.

My new Single “In the Zone, Sexy Girl” is now available on iTunes, napster, emusic, rhapsody, zune, and Amazon. I enjoyed this interview and telling my story, and to stay in touch follow me on twitter, join my MySpace, and other sites.
