Dubcnn: Just to start off the
interview could you introduce yourself to the fans that might not be familiar
with Bone Crusher?
Yo, this is Bone Crusher – Southern Bred, outstanding, Mr. Never scared.
Dubcnn: Can you tell us how you got into the Hip-Hop scene?
Uhm, shit. ’91 - ’92, I started freestyling and searching through my
neighbourhood and got good and in ’93 – ’94 I hooked up with a company called
Black Market Entertainment if you’ve ever heard of them. They do Lil Jon,
Scrappy and E-40 and a few other people. We worked with them for a while and
then we signed a couple of deals and ended up on Tommy Boy [Entertainment], I
did one with Penthouse and did a few songs with a couple of artists like Too $hort,
The Nasty Boys – a lot of people, Jermaine – a few people and from there I did
a song in 2002 called “Never Scared” which blew up big and I ended up signing
with JD for “So So Def” and from there we did a couple of records which was
outstanding, the last album went gold, almost platinum and a few albums coming
out within the next month – July 18th.
Dubcnn: You used to have a deal with Tommy Boy Entertainment, where you
released your album “Attenchun”, what happened with that deal?
Tommy Boy flopped, they kind of just fell off and when they went down they
couldn’t hold anybody so we just got off them.
Dubcnn: Okay and a lot of people are wondering why you left So So Def?
Oh yea, So So Def – I left the situation because it wasn’t working at Jive, so
I left that situation because when he left he couldn’t take none of his
artists so it really wasn’t that we left So So Def, its just that we had no
choice but to stay on Jive.
Dubcnn: Okay so no bad blood between you and So So Def then?
Nah, Bad Blood? They ain’t done nothing to me! *laugh*
Dubcnn: So are you currently signed or waiting upon the right deal?
Uhm, I’m not signed and I’m not trying to be signed. I’m just trying to do
records like this and do this and if they like our material then we can go
from there.
Dubcnn: Okay so you’re independent at the moment
Yeah.
Dubcnn: Your working on a new album called M.A.S.H. Can you tell us the
status of this album?
Oh the M.A.S.H is not coming out, that was on Jive – I’m not on Jive anymore.
Dubcnn: So that’s just not happening?
It’s not happening.
Dubcnn: Okay. On your album “Attenchun”, there is a lot of big name
features from such people are T.I, J.D and Lil Jon – will your future albums
be the same or are you staying inside your camp for this?
Yeah, I’m staying in my camp.
Dubcnn: Okay, what’s the status on the Lyrical Giants; can we expect more
records in the future?
Lyrical Giants is coming out, The Giants is me, E-40, ??, ??, 8ball, Magic and
Killa Mike.
Dubcnn: When can we expect this to come out?
It wont be out till... It’s going to be a while because everybody is working
on something. We did a few songs already but other than that we’re just
chilling
Dubcnn: So there’s no set time that these projects might drop?
Nah
Dubcnn: Can you tell us what happened to “Fight Music”?
Fight music is not coming out either; Fight Music was on So So Def / Jive.
Dubcnn: Okay, what other projects have you got in the works – can we expect
any mix tapes in the near future?
Yeah, we’ve got a mix tape coming out called “??”. I’m doing a TV show here
which I’m doing TV show which I’m doing a mix tape for – “Celebrity Fit Club
4” which is coming out in August. I’m doing a TV show on ABC, I’m doing a
movie coming out next year. I just did a movie with ATL and T.I and a tour on
August 1st till September 14th
Dubcnn: Okay. You cameo in a lot of different videos, how does this come
about? Do they come to you or do you contact them?
Nah, they call me. The videos man, they call me.
Dubcnn: Aight, we know you’re going to be on “Celebrity Fit Club”, how did
this come about?
Well I was on tour with a friend of mine, and he called me and told me how it
was a done deal.
Dubcnn: Are you going to release any projects to coincide with Celebrity
Fit Club?
Urm, shit – were doing some exclusive ??, first were doing that and the ??,
were talking about doing that – were definitely doing some things.
Dubcnn: Do you feel that it could boost your record sales, knowing that you
are going to be in the limelight on national TV?
Really.
Dubcnn: Would you like to feature on anymore TV shows in the future?
Definitately. I definitely want to.
Dubcnn: Do you like to act, or is music more your thing?
Nah, I like to act – acting is fun too. Music is my first roll but acting is
definitely fun and I’d love to stay acting.
Dubcnn: Do you plan to work with any artists that you worked with over at
So So Def, such as Daz Dillinger again in the future?
Oh yea, Daz is my boy – for sure!
Dubcnn: So you’ll be working with him again?
Yup, definitely.
Dubcnn: Did you record any other records other than the “Tipsy Remix” record
with Daz?
Nah, just that one record.
Dubcnn: Who else would you like to work with in the future?
Urm, Shaun B ??, shock the world
Dubcnn: Okay, what producers have you worked with that you haven’t had
chance to work with yet?
I’ll work with anybody who I want to work with.
Dubcnn: None in particular?
All of them, I’ll work with all of them – I’ll work with Pharrell, I’d work
with Lil Jon, Banner, Suspects, Platoon – I’ll work with everybody, everybody
who’s hot.
Dubcnn: Aight, would you work with any other West Coast artists in the
future apart from people that you’ve already worked with?
Yea, yea! I’d love to work with them. I’ve done stuff with E-40, he’s a good
friend of mine. I’ve done some stuff with Too $hort, who is also a good friend
of mine. I would love to do some stuff with Snoop – I’d love to work with
Snoop, I’d love to work with a few people so definitely. I might do a song
with B-Real.
Dubcnn: What are your plans for after everything that we have talked about
has happened, what can we expect?
Aww man, work on a record, just get it done and move yourself – just keep
working.
Dubcnn: Okay that’s just about it, do you have any last words for the fans?
Pick the album up, look out for “Celebrity Fit Club 4”, August 1st and look
out for “Release The Beast” which is released July 18th.
