Me":

dubcnn.com: To start it off, let everybody
know what your next upcoming project, cause it was announced that
your So So Def album was once again pushed back... can you give us
the full story behind that?
Well right now, Jermaine Dupri, my friend, he looking for another
home, as far as we leaving Jive Records and we going to somewhere
bigger. And in the meantime, he gave me the green light to go on and
drop this hot ass record that I put together, you know? So hey, this
is the "Dogg Pound Gangsta LP" I'm putting together!
dubcnn.com: So the Dogg Pound Gangsta LP is a complete Daz
solo record?
Yeah, complete Daz solo record, no wack features, I only got singing
features, like hooks and stuff, but its solely produced by Daz
Dillinger! I did the whole thing.
dubcnn.com: Okay, so who do you have on there singing hooks?
I got my homeboy Shorty B, my homegirl Shelly, I got George Clinton,
Parliament, I got my homeboy Nate Dogg, and me. I'm doing some
singing on there too.
dubcnn.com: It's a independent record as you said, what's the
distribution gonna be like? Where can people cop this?
Oh it's gonna be in every store! Same thang! You know all my records
be everywhere! Just like the DPGC U Know What I'm Throwin' Up, you
know? That was a year ago, and now I'm gonna drop another one it's
gonna be everywhere, Best Buy, Amazon.com, CDUNiverse.com,
Wherehouse, Bootleggers, everywhere!
dubcnn.com: Tell us about your So So Gangsta album. What can
we expect from that?
It's gonna be real crazy man, it's got Jermaines ideas on it, you
know. The Dogg Pound Gangsta LP is just me. But the So So Gangsta
album got Redman, all kind of people on there. Muthafuckas who wanna
hear me wit muthafuckas, you know what I'm sayin'?
dubcnn.com: Did you keep it West Coast on the D.P.G. LP or
did you switch up your style?
Nah man, I'm gonna keep it W'd out, man, straight West COast'd out,
my shit West Coast, all the people who listen to my new shit always
tell me "man this sounds like the Dogg Food!" cause I took it back
to that, rappin' real calm, makin' it happen. And just put together
a proper LP ! For the fans! Cause I got everything hyped up right
now and when they told me that they gonna push the album back from
the Jive situation, I had to fall back into myself and come up wit a
plan and I came out wit this one.
dubcnn.com: How's your relationship with JD?
Oh yeah we're going to do our thing tonight, we're performing in
Atlanta at the Jay-Z & Friends concert, So So Def, tonight it goes
down! We in the ATL mayne, I just left California yesterday, you
know I'm bouncing all over the world manyne! It's going down, me and
JD we real tight friends, and we gonna keep it like that.
dubcnn.com: Did he produce on So So Gangsta?
Right now it's just me and JD producing on there, yeah. Putting it
down. SO you know, he comes with his ideas, I come wit my ideas, we
come together, and you can't get no better than that!
dubcnn.com: That's right, tell us about the guest appearances
on the So So Gangsta!
I got Redman, Jagged Edge, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Jay-Z, Beanie
Sigel, all my friends! I'm puttin' it together man. And I'm finna do
something wit the Young Gunners on they album too.
dubcnn.com: Is the Boyz-N-The-Hood track still gonna be the
first single when it comes out next year?
We'll spice it up, drop two videos, you know. I don't know if we
gonna drop that one, that was just something new, to go and get 'em
hyped up, you see how Game is droppin' all them records, first he
dropped that one and now he droppin' that one wit 50. You got to
spend money to make money mayne!
dubcnn.com: Are you positive they're going to be able to push
you the way they pushed J-Kwon or Bone Crusher?
Yeah, because we ain't gone be on Jive! Jive gone take Bone Crusher,
J-Kwon and Anthony Hamilton, and they gone let me and JD off and we
gone go to Def Jam or Universal or Interscope.
dubcnn.com: What do you think of Atlanta, compared to L.A.?
Atlanta compared to L.A., it's more free out here man. I just left
L.A., it's just shoot'em up bang bang, you know what I'm sayin? And
out here it's just ballin'! Hey, it's cool! But it's still gangsta
shit out here, but it's more corporate out here, everybody out here
about they D-Game. An ounce is a thousand dollars out here for some
chronic! *laughs*
dubcnn.com: Who are your favorite Down South artists to work
with?
I worked with everybody from Down South! Everybody, from the street
cats, my people, all that, T.I., Titty Boy, they come over. The
people I be fuckin' wit most is Titty Boy, T.I., PSC, Country Kane,
Shorty B, you know, all them gangsta muthafuckas out here, BMF, my
homie Blue Da Vinci, I'm just keepin' it crippin' mayne!
dubcnn.com: ou're one of the few artists who can actually say
they've worked with pretty much everybody in the industry, From the
West to the East to Down South to the Mid West. Is there anybody
left that you'd want to work with?
I wanna get down wit anybody that wanna get down wit me! Everybody I
come across, I'm like a legend in they eyes, you know what I'm sayin?
And then when I come wit them beats and shit, they really just be
like... I mean I made the hardest song in the world, and that's
Ambitions As A Ridah! I got Ambitions Of A Ridah Pt. 2, 2005, on my
new album the Dogg Pound Gangsta LP!
dubcnn.com: How has your rapping style evolved from The
Chronic to his upcoming So So Def release?
Uhm, I'm takin' it back to the Chronic sound. This is how this is
Dogg Pound Gangsta LP is, just warmin' em up.
dubcnn.com: If somebody's trying to get a beat from Daz, what
do they have to come up with? What do you have to be working with?
Be real, and it's all negotiable. You just gotta hang right. Like
all my independent artists and people who comin' up, I fuck witchu
I'll give you a deal, but all ya'll major artists and shit, I'll
have to charge you cause it's going to the big companys.
dubcnn.com: People wanna know more about the 25.5 mio. case
vs. death row. whats the state of affairs?
Right now I'm collectin' the shit. I didn't actually get the money
from Suge Knight, I got the money from the assistant companys, that
all the business was done through? So you can imagine how much money
was locked up. Cause once you sue a muthafucka, all the money gets
locked up. Can't nobody get a DIME out of there. And I got the
releases now, I'm doin' it up! I'm happy, chillin! I feel like a
BOSS out here in the south! Cause I just had like 4,000 dollars that
shit got spent out QUICK in L.A.! I have about 4,000 out here that
shit last me like two months! *laughs* Cause everybody doin' bad!
Bad, bad, bad.
dubcnn.com: How d you feel about the way Afeni Shakur
releases Pac's music.
Hey, it's her son, she can do whatever she wants to do with it, she
got all my blessings. Come over here and let Diggity Daz put some
stuff together, you can't get no more authentic than me! You know?
And I'm the one that put it down! I be fuckin' wit them Outlawz too,
you know.
dubcnn.com: Are you still releasing that Sampling To The Beat
CD for producers? When?
First I'm gonna sample everything on that muthafucka first! Cause I
be listening to that shit like "DAMN THIS SHIT DOPE!" but I'm trying
to see.. How much do these beat CD's be going for in the stores?
dubcnn.com: I don't even know..
Well I'ma put it together and I'ma drop that shit 2005, for all the
producers. I'ma go on and give it up. It's just a bunch of drum
loops, and bunch of sounds and drum sounds. That's just Vol.1 you
know what I'm sayin? So hey, let me finish that one and I'll put it
out!
dubcnn.com: If you could go back and un-do one event that
happened in your career, what would it be and why?
I would have put the Chronic out like we did, and I would bailed
out.
dubcnn.com: Why?
Because I was set after that! I wasn't signed after the Chronic came
out! We signed AFTER that! We made the Chronic, it came out, we
wasn't signed, and then we got signed. But we wasn't really trying
to sign.. But we just said fuck it, we needed the money!
dubcnn.com: How do you feel about West Coast HipHop right
now? What is it like, what does it need?
I mean I listen to alot of music on the West Coast, I just left from
out there, and as far as the radio, everybody is doin' it out there.
Cause we got Julio G back doin' 93.5 KDay, you know, so now the real
West Coast shit finna come out. And them other stations, I give it
up for Power 106, but 100.3 The Beat is BULLSHIT! Fuck them, they
haven't played my record, they don't even play my shit. They need to
kick Steve Harvey the fuck out! But you know, the West Coast,
everybody doin' they thing, we was just at the Snoop release party,
and I'll send you some picture from that.
dubcnn.com: What happened with the Twinz CD, is it still
gonna happen.
I seen the Twinz out there, I don't really know man. I can't push
nobody to do nothin, but I'm definitely down with them, I be seein'
them. But it's all about they ain't really finished to do all the
songs they wanna do. I was just gone put out a maxi single out, what
you think about that?
dubcnn.com: That sounds cool, atleast get something out, you
know.
Atleast get something out on 'em, huh.. I feel you. But if I press
the single up, I need to press the whole album up, you know?
dubcnn.com: I feel you, it don't make no sense to put out a
single without a record following.
Yeah, all that shit. So you know, it's something about bein' in
control of your own destiny, as far as everybody can rap. Like Jayo
Felony you know what I'm sayin'? He did a little song dissin' me,
but it was bullshit! He hurt from the shit I said to him first! Him
& Kurupt and all them... When they start owning they own records,
and pressin' they own shit up, and makin' they own money, then they
can talk. But right now, they somebodys stool pigeons. All of them!
Kurupt on hold, he can't put a record out if his life depended on
it, Jayo Felony he broke, his life dependin' on whatever somebody
gone give him, 40 Glocc just there. And hey, besides that, everybody
else on the West Coast we doin' our thang. Snoop double platinum
ALREADY!
dubcnn.com: For real?
Hell yeah, he recieved a double platinum plaque! Already! So when
you start ownin' your own records and pressin' your shit up, be
doing it from the bottom on up and makin' all the money off
yourself, then you can talk. Like Snoop the King, can't nobody do
that. And I'm the prince, I'm the next one. I got a major deal AND I
got a independent deal. Muthafuckas couldn't find the prices I find
to press these records up if they life depended on it! You know what
I'm sayin? Spendin' 5 G's to press up 40,000 records! Can you get
that???
dubcnn.com: You just gotta have your business right!
I'm talkin bout wrapped up, pressed up, all that type shit. You
gotta know the right muthafuckas. Everybody just be rappin' to be
rappin! You can make records all day! As far as make the records in
the studio. But when you take the CD out of there, how you gone get
paid from it?? And that's where alotta people get fucked up, cause
your shit just get bootlegged and you still owin' the rent man! Or
the weed man! *laughs*
dubcnn.com: Are you still going to be working with Warren G
in near future? Cause ya'll was talkin' bout workin' together a
while back.
Yeah I just seen Warren G, he gettin' his stuff together, but as far
as now, my whole mindset is on this Dogg Pound Gangsta LP. Spendin'
all my money on this shit! And I KNOW I'm finna come up over this
one! It's one of them albums.. and when you hear this first single,
"Do You Think About Me", off that 2Pac beat, it's really Zapp, that
"Keep Ya Head Up" beat, I'm comin' out wit that one first. So you
know, I got the niggaz already, I'm just gettin' these bitches.
Everywhere the bitches go, niggaz gone follow.
dubcnn.com: Yup, Pac said that!
That's right.
dubcnn.com: How's your recording process and work ethic
changed since signing to so so def? With the better equipment,
musicians around you, the budgets and all.
I mean my recording process was always quick, you know what I'm
sayin? I learned from 2Pac, so my work ethic is 50 times that, cause
he's a gemini, I'm a gemini, so I get up early, I make 40 beats in
the mornin', so I got a gang of music. My work ethic is just work
work work work work. Specially when I'm in control of the shit, and
got the releases, and all. I'm the man behind that board!
dubcnn.com: How do you feel about Mac Dre's death?
Oh you know, it's a surprise. But hey, gotta figure out what was
goin' on out there, it's a bunch of gangsta shit that goes on in
different cities. You never know what can happen! But shit it's a
great loss, I liked Mac Dre, he was my peoples, I got a couple songs
with Mac Dre, a gang of songs! But hey, it's probably gonna be some
funk between Kansas City and the Bay, you know? Hey, it's all kind
of shit, it's gangsta shit.
dubcnn.com: Will you be working with Bay Area artists on your
upcoming shit?
Yeah, I'm working with my homeboy Yonie, out of North Richmond, and
all my homies off Chelsea, and I be talkin' to my homie from the
Frontlinerz, too out there in the bay, wit my homegirl Nessa. So you
know, hey, we just keepin' it goin'. But I'ma send you like two more
songs too so you can pump this shit up!
dubcnn.com: Were or are you and Soopafly signed to Doggystyle
Records as The Pound?
Uhh yeah.
dubcnn.com: What's the status on that?
We still workin' on that, Soopafly workin' on his solo album, but
when we come together we do songs, you know. I got the Pound record
right now. It's signed to me. Cause I'm puttin' it out. I got that,
its like 15 songs, me and Soopafly, some wit Snoop on there. We gone
drop that, Soopafly wanna do some more shit, we gonna try and get a
real deal for that one too. I mean all the deals is real when the
money comin' in.
dubcnn.com: What do you think of Snoops new record, R&G?
Rhythm & Gangsta... It's Snoop, it's different, you know, he just
takin' it to the next level. That shit must be workin', it's sellin'!
*laughs* Specially wit the 2nd single, "Let's Get Blown" you know,
I'm in that video. Wit Paul Hunter and them.. I'm still keepin' it
active. I'm in all these south videos, and then they turn around I'm
on my cousin video, so shit don't stop! Everybody out there in the
West they just chillin' right now, I must be doin' somethin' good, I
got the attention! I got everybodys attention on the West Coast,
that's why I'm th e prince mayne! I can go anywhere I wanna go, and
I can put a record out any day! I could put 6 records out in ONE
DAY, if I wanted to. I'm puttin' a gangsta crunk record together for
my people in the south! You know what I'm sayin? I got the midwest
too, my homeboys out there, I got a movie called St. Loc comin'
soon, with my homies from Flat Out Records. St. Louis, Northside, 19
& 20 Crips, LBC & St. Louis! It's real in the field out there in
North St. Louis mayne, so I just got a bunch of stuff from L.A., to
the midwest, I got the DPGC's in New York, Bron x! Hey, I'm just
puttin' records out man. 40-50,000, hear that shit add up!
dubcnn.com: Okay, and would you wanna get down wit Game?
I got a couple of songs with the Game I did with Warren G back
before Game became Game you know? He doin' his thang, I ain't got a
problem wit him, I like Game.
dubcnn.com: What did you think of the whole Yukmouth vs Game
shit?
Shit, what did you think about it?
dubcnn.com: I don't really know, I thought Yuk came tigher
than Game did, but the whole thing was stupid as hell, cause it was
fake, but I'm trying to find out what you thought about it.
Well you know, they gotta come together once they diss each other. I
mean hey, it's all about what can happen, it's the Bay vs L.A. &
Compton.. I mean shit, I be out in the Bay, I like Yukmouth. But hey
it's real in the field mayne, I just hope they keep they head up, I
like both of them. They black men, let's just keep it goin. But my
situation is still Fuck Suge Knight, Kurupt, the rest of them. As
long as I be havin' my business! THEY out there trying to get a
name. Trying to get theyselves back in it. But they stuck in a
mindframe. It's just like gettin' beat when you 10 years old, and
you 30 now, and your mindstate is still stuck with when you was
gettin' beat. You know what I'm sayin? But you gotta grow up outta
stuff! I'm gonna keep it movin' man, I'm around 500 million dollar
muthafuckas out here! Jermaine Dupri got WAY more money than Suge
Knight.
dubcnn.com: Are you still planning to put out that Crooked I
Say Hi To The Bad Guy DPG Version?
Fuck nah! I'm put it for download for free!
dubcnn.com: For real?
Yeah! Shit, and it's gone be on DPG Recordz! Speakin' of websites,
DPG Recordz is goin' cool, but I'm comin' wit DazDillinger.net!
dubcnn.com: Oh yeah? Who's doing that?
That's coming soon! You know, when the album come out.
dubcnn.com: Is KP doin' that?
Yeah! Somebody when in there and tried to destroy the forum or
somethin' like that! My DPG Recordz thang!
dubcnn.com: Yeah I saw that, I don't know what it was all
about...
Hey you know, we beefin' wit everybody *laughs* It's from the
internet to the streets mayne! *laughs* It's just about gettin' the
game. I'm comin' wit DazDillinger.net which is just gonna be my
artist site. Just like DPGRecordz but the artist site is all about
me. No other artists but me. We gonna have the forum crackin' off,
DPGRecordz.com still goin' be goin' on. Puttin' projects out, all
that shit, but then I'm comin' wit DazDillinger.net.
dubcnn.com: Just expandin', huh?
Yeah, I mean hey, what else can I do?
dubcnn.com: Are you down with IV Life Records?
Oh yeah, I be fuckin' wit em! Main Street Gangsta Crips, Mafia! So
you know, I'm down wit all crips!
dubcnn.com: After ya'll decided not to put out that No
Vaseline Pt.2, people wanna know if you're trying to squash the beef
with the Riflemen..
Really man, the Riflemen need to change they name. Who's shootin'
wit a Rifle nowadays? Well I'm the Chopperman! *laughs* I'm comin'
wit the AK's mayne! You know? I'm not even gonna waste my time on
that shit. They already know! They already got beatup! Jayo Felony
sayin' on the song Tray Deee ain't did shit to him, but all my
homies was in the trailer, we was all in the trailer, and all my lil
homies I can go to em wit the video camera, and they say Jayo got
that ass whooped. And his homies was outside the trailer, and they
didn't do shit. But hey, why waste your time wit muthafuckas who's
gettin' beat up already? Im after the bigger fish! So hey, tell them
niggaz to buy a new car, then I'll diss them. Start gettin' money
and all that other shit, then I'll diss them. They ain't doin'
nothin'. Jayo signed to Treacherous Records through another
muthafucka. His Crip Hop album Flip Flopped! So hey, Tray Deee beat
him up for that word too! He got whooped on for Crip Hop! You see it
was on the Eastsidaz, and Jayo took that shit. Like Snoop, all them
niggaz is just crumbs of his table, 40 Glocc, Jayo Felony, and
Kurupt. We wasn't wit they crew, they was wit our crew right? Jayo
came to fuck wit Tha Eastsidaz and our crew right? So hey, you ain't
heard from Jayo's shit since! That was the last shit you ever gone
see Jayo in! And he looked smoked out, like a smokin' crack! That
nigga smoked out like a muthafucka! Bullet Loco... *laughs*
dubcnn.com: How come you took out the diss to Juvenile at the
end of You Ain't Shit?
Why I took it off? I like Juvenile! It was just the wrong idea I was
takin', because the situation wit Young Buck, you know? He said he
left him in L.A.! He left the man in L.A. with SUGE KNIGHT! *laughs*
So you know, hey, we past that.
dubcnn.com: Aight, who are your current favorite producers?
I like Just Blaze, I like JD, I like alotta independent producers.
It's young cats who got the beats. There's this one dude named
Aaron, he outta Phoenix, Arizona, he got some tight ass beats. Right
now I'm just openin' up shit called the beat makers, as far as like
send your beats here and I can go sell them. You know? Helpin' young
producers out to get in the game. Just havin' like a production
company wit young producers. Muthafucka want that sound, you get it
to him.
dubcnn.com: Tha Row Killa Album never came out. Are you still
trying to release that, or put it for download or some shit?
It's just different songs, we never really made it. We just made the
movie. It was just the experiment of makin' the movie. It was all
about the cheese, I didn't have enough cheese to press it up, I had
bigger thangs to press up! But that's part of the catalogue, of the
history. That was just a lil somethin' I made, just clownin' and
shit, just to see if I could do a movie. That was my first time
shootin' shit. And then you know I got better and better and shit,
watchin' Paul Hunter all that type shit. Hey, I'm in the game now, I
think I'm gone do the Ice Cube. Alotta people say I sound like Ice
Cube when I rap. So hey, I'm gonna do the movies too, fuck it!
dubcnn.com: What's your relationship with Mike Dean right
now?
Mike Dean, we still cool! I talk to him and Tanya Herron, all the
time! He doin' his thang, that's my peoples for life! He helped me
out alot, when I was goin' through it! I never forget the struggles,
no matter what happens. I'ma always be Daz, I'm the realest person
ever.
dubcnn.com: Could you ever picture hookin' back up with Dr.
Dre?
Hey, if he feels like it, I'm wit it! I know we gone all make money
one day, but hey, I'm wit it. I ain't got a problem with Dr. Dre?
dubcnn.com: And will we ever see you fuckin' wit ESG & Slim
Thug again?
Oh yeah ESG & Slim Thug, yeah fo sho, that's my peoples! All them,
A-Town, I love Houston! I lived in Houston for like two years, for
reals, so hey I really enjoy the southern hospitality and
everything. I'm a city boy goin' south to the city boy!
dubcnn.com: Will people ever hear the original version of
"Got My Mind Made Up", the version with just Tha Dogg Pound, Rage,
Inspectah Deck, and Method & Red?
Who got that version?
dubcnn.com: I don't even know, I'm askin you!
I don't think we ever recorded it though, I think we just took
Rage's part off at my house. If I could find the A Decks, then it
should be on there.
dubcnn.com: Cause you know, people always fiendin' for that
old shit, that unreleased shit, trying to see what never came out!
Yeah, like Next Episode the first one huh!
dubcnn.com: Hell yeah that's like the most wanted track ever!
Everybody wants to get that shit.
Yeah, that was the hardest song them niggaz ever did! Snoop wrote
the whole muthafuckin' thang, him and DOC.
dubcnn.com: Yup, we got it, but in bad quality. That one, and
the Ho Hopper too!
Oh yeah, Ho Hopper, you goin' back now huh! *laughs*
dubcnn.com: Yup, I know you and Kurupt got a gang of
unreleased shit too!
Yup... Ay what's up with Kurupt? Ain't nobody got a interview wit
the faggot?
dubcnn.com: He's been in a couple magazines lately, tellin'
his side of story.
That nigga broke all the time!
dubcnn.com: I saw him in L.A., at the Riflemen show with Mobb
Deep.
You ain't gone here nothin' though, they doin' baaad! I mean he doin'
shows in L.A.! How many fuckin' shows you gone do in L.A.? Go out
there and get your money! From these other states!
dubcnn.com: Talkin' bout shows, are you ever plannin' to head
overseas for some shows?
Yup, I just got my passport too! So hey, we'll hook it up, I'll be
over there! My uncles from Germany, he stays over there, he's
stationed over there.
dubcnn.com: Okay, and to end the interview, we gonna do a
little Word Association...
Let's go.
dubcnn.com: G-Funk.
Dogg Pound Gangstas!
dubcnn.com: Bad Azz.
My homeboy!
dubcnn.com: Spider Loc.
I had a talk with Young Buck, and Spider Loc was trying to get at
me, he wanna squash the beef, and Young Buck didn't really know what
exaclty went on with all the Death Row shit, so hey, it's still up
in the air!
dubcnn.com: DPGC Reuinion.
Soopafly, Daz Dillinger, Dogg Pound, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Bad Azz,
Tray Deee, Goldie Loc, but hey, I don't think it'll happen!
dubcnn.com: Why?
Why? Cause everybody on they solo careers right now! And it's alotta
shit goin' on through the neighbourhoods. It's just ego's and shit.
Cause Snoop probably wouldn't wanna work with alotta muthafuckas,
you know? He gone fuck wit his lil cousin Daz though! He's first in
command in the Dogg Pound, I'm second in command. You know what I'm
sayin? That's how it's always been!
dubcnn.com: Eminem.
I like Eminem! What you think about his album?
dubcnn.com: I don't know man, I thought it had like 5 or 6
good songs, the rest was average or wack!
I feel you mayne, all his beats sound alike too. Like that 2Pac
shit, all that shit sound all the same. It's just a name, it's just
a business move. Good for him. But hey, give me some money! Give me
a deal or somethin' Em! *laughs* Shit, he doin' the business shit,
he don't need to work ever no more, never!
dubcnn.com: Alright man, that's about it for the questions,
why don't you let everybody know again about the Dogg Pound Gangsta
LP! Last words!
Yeah yeah, what's up ya'll, this is D-A to the Z, the prince of the
West Coast, we keepin' it real goin' right now, got this new album,
the Dogg Pound Gangsta LP, Daz Dillinger, droppin' this before I
drop the So So Def, So So Gangsta, you know, it's comin' out January
25th 2005, ya'll be lookin' out, Best Buy, Wherehouse, online, go to
ya'll stores, call up, and request for that album which is gone be
everywhere! It's takin' ya'll back to the original Dogg Pound. I
created the sound, I studied the shit and I Came out wit it. So
