Dubcnn: What's up y'all this is Jose with Dubcnn. I'm here with Die Nasty Records and we're kickin' it. Die Nasty Records is four people, so go ahead and introduce yourself.

Kalibur: I'm Kalibur man.

Kostik: Kostik.

Tank: I'm mothafuckin' Tank.

Mute: Young Mute, killa Cali.

Dubcnn: These four guys are from San Diego and they've been doing it here for awhile. How'd you guys start out rapping and how'd you end up here?

Tank: Youngsters man. we were young just tryn'a be wit' it, just trying to find our way. We wasn't really fittin' in with the rest of society, it just happened man. It all started with Kal, at the grades man. We had nothing else to do, all we was doin' was fuckin' up. We started gettin' intsrumental beats, and just started and one thing let to another, started getting better, just making moves, just happened kinda.

Dubcnn: Who influenced you as far your style? How would you describe your sound?

Kalibur: Shit, I have no idea man. We been influenced by everybody Mystikal, came up with Bone Thugz, Twista, Brotha Lynch, Tech, Tech Ninna. All sorts of poeple, same influences as everyone else. Tupac, Slim Shady, same as everyone else.

Mute: Took allt hat shit, put our little twist on it.

Dubcnn: Tell us about the San Diego scene, what's it like being a part of that.

Kalibur: It's cutthroat. It's crazy, if you ain't talking about the same thing they talkin' about they ain't really tryina hear you. If you ain't mentioning the street that they recognize they don't really care what else you got to say. That's frustrating when you trying to do the different kind of shit we doin' and you can't get the support because you ain't in on the bangin' tip or whatever else tip that other poeple be on. Other than that we close to LA so we can do whatever we want and it ain't nothin' but an hour away to go up there and do those big things.

Dubcnn: Why do you think it's been so hard for San Diego artists to blow, especially in hip-hop?

Mute: 'Cause everybody out here tryin'a talk about the same thing, nobody's different. And the people that are different stick out like a sore thumb, don't nobody want to recognize that. That's why nobody's blown up, cause everybody's sound exactly the same talkin' abotu that gangbangin' shit, money, cars, whoop dee whoop this, whoop dee whoop that, that shit ain't gon' never happen out here.

Kalbur: People in Virginia don't know what the 94 highway is, so if that's all you talk about they like, "Those are just numbers to me man." So you gotta go deeper than that and a lot of people in Daygo don't seem to wanna do that.

Tank: There's a little bit of hate goin' around too. People don't wanna get you on the album 'cause they don't wanna see you shine. It's this perpetual way. If you don't take the steps of workin' with people you not gonna go nowhere. When's the last time you heard of a fire San Diego collaboration? I'm sure they're out there, but it's just how Southern Cal is, Cali in general. Mothafuckaz, bunch of haters, everywhere you go, there's somebody that wanna see you fall.

Kalibur: Even the bitches out here is difficulter to talk to, that's just how it is. That's why we came out here. If you can make it crack in Daygo, you can make it crack anywhere else. It's like a lot of other cities. If you can make it crack in New York you can probably crack the whole country.

Mute: At the same time you have to spread your wings. you can't really blow up in Daygo just by itself, you gotta have your fingertips everywhere.

Tank: We do that too, we don't just stick to this demographic. We are our own people and we're men about it, we don't just spit Southern Cali rap. You listen to our music a majority of the people will relate to it.

Kalibur: At least to one of us. That's the benefit of all being different, that somebody's gonna like one of us at least.

Dubcnn: So tell us about your album. How was the process of making that, and who did you get to work with that you wanted to work with on the album?

Kalibur: Traxxstar Studio here in Daygo made a lot of it happen. A lot of the best songs on the album Brett Wiseman over there did. Other than that a lot of it was recorded in our own little studio, mixed right here, had someone else master it. Mr. Ridley produced most of it, at least half of it. Aside from all the guest features on there, we had Tech, Crooked, Kutt Kalhoun, Ecay Uno, all those folks that were on there. Other than that we kept it in house, that's how we do it, keep it in house.

Dubcnn: What do you guys have planned now that you've released an album?

Kalibur: We're all doing solo albums. We're doing one for Jackie P., the female vocalist that's on most of the album. We're doing her shit first, then we're doing all these solo albums after that, then we're doing the Live Sick Compilation Part 2. we're just gonna keep going with the momentum.

Tank: Shows in between, just gonna get out there being seen.

Kalibur: Tryin'a get some international shows so if you overseas...

Mute: Australia, Europe, holla at us.

Dubcnn: we're about to wrap up so if there's anything you wanna say before we sign off now's the time.

Kalibur: This motherfucker ain't said nothing so we're gonna put him on the spot.

Kostik: Dubcnn.com.

Kalibur: Dubcnn.com.

Mute: Dienastyrecords.com.

Kostik: HG!

Dubcnn: alright thanks a lot guys and that's a wrap.
