Dubcnn.com recently sat down with Cali
Untouchable DJ, DJ Warrior. The man who's been blessing us West Coast fans
with exclusives all year, answered our questions and spoke on the mixtape
game, his new projects dropping, and much more. We have both the transcript

the Cali Untouchable DJ right here. What up Warrior?
DJ Warrior: Just working man.
dubcnn.com: You just did that Cali Untouchables Radio Pt 3 with DJ Strong,
Scipio and Game.
DJ Warrior: Yes, it just came out like beggining of November.
dubcnn.com: How did that come about?
DJ Warrior: Well we just wanted to do something for Scipio, get him out there
more, you know, and attached a Game mix to it, as well. Two of the best from
West, right now, ya know.
dubcnn.com: I feel you, Scipio is a problem on the mic.
DJ Warrior: He is, this cat is hot man.
dubcnn.com: You're keeping busy though homie.You just did the Cali
Untouchables Radio 3. And now you got Coast Control, with Clinton Sparks.
DJ Warrior: Yea we are trying ya know.
dubcnn.com: Let em know about that project.
DJ Warrior: Yep we just dropped Coast Control Vol.1 with Clinton Sparks
November 12th, 2004.
dubcnn.com: You got some real heat on there.
DJ Warrior: Well basically that mixtape is super exclusive. Clinton Sparks, Da
Riffs produced 90% of the songs on there. It's crazy you got everyone from
2Pac, Crooked I, Kurupt, Jayo Felony, Sly Boogy, Scipio, Game to State
Property, Fabolous, Fat Joe, Immortal Technique, everbody on that. It's crazy
gottta have tha mixtape yo. Even, Busta Ryhmes, ya know basically, it's nice
collabo between East and West, it's sick yo.
dubcnn.com: Yea man. It looks hot.
DJ Warrior: Thanks.
dubcnn.com: Some real heavy weights and dope up and comers on it.
DJ Warrior: Yea for sure, the way its mixed is crazy, you have to hear this
mixtape yo.
dubcnn.com: Whats next for you Warrior? You ever gonna do some Kay
Slay/Clue/Funk Master Flex shit and drop an album on a major?
DJ Warrior: Yep, that's what I'm looking forward to and working hard for,
change the game around here ya know, with a dvd.
dubcnn.com: Oh thats right you got a DVD coming out Whats gonna be on there?
DJ Warrior: Well different things bout Hip-Hop and it's culture, a lot behind
scene stuff, how we make the mixtapes, different things bout music biz ya
know, it's going to be interesting.
dubcnn.com: Coo coo. When can we expect it?
DJ Warrior: Sometime next year in 05 ya know, we are still working on it.
dubcnn.com: Thats whats up Aight...So I was wondering What Nationality are
you?
DJ Warrior: Well I'm South East Asian, I was born in Bangladesh, grew up in
Los Angeles.
dubcnn.com: Thats tight Aint too many coming from that part of the world Hip
Hop wise.
DJ Warrior: Yea that's real true.
dubcnn.com: I'm sure there's mad talent there.
DJ Warrior: Yea, good musicians ya know...
dubcnn.com: Yup. What part of L.A. you from?
DJ Warrior: Close to Downtown L.A., Rampart District.
dubcnn.com: Oh ok Near Pico and Union?
DJ Warrior: Well ight by it, right next to eachother, yo.
dubcnn.com: Thats whats up. Have you ever considered linking up with a cat
like Sick Jacken from Psycho Realm? Hes outta that Pico and Union area.
DJ Warrior: Yea sure, he's tight I like his music.
dubcnn.com: Everyone thinks L.A. Hip Hop is just South Central, Compton and
Long Beach, but there's emcee from all over.
DJ Warrior: Yea it's really true.
dubcnn.com: Yup. As far as DJ's, who did you look up to?
DJ Warrior: Well, DJ's like Ralph M, the Mexican from Funkdoobiest/K-Day, then
cats like Funk Master Flex, Clue, Jazzy Jeff, freakin' Battle Cat, you know
cats like that. They all made it big and took their DJ game to the next level
you know, DJ Muggs, one of my favorites, too.
dubcnn.com: hats whats up. Some real good names in there, like Original K-Day
Mixmaster, Ralph M.
DJ Warrior: Yep
dubcnn.com: I rarely see cats drop his name, but they should Muggs, too
DJ Warrior: Oh yea, Muggs is sick, also DJ Screw and Jam Master Jay. R.I.P.
dubcnn.com: Oh shit. Props on Screw. Easily the most slept on DJ ever.
DJ Warrior: Yea, rest in peace, he made history.
dubcnn.com: Thats true man. Have you ever considered doing some Screw shit?
DJ Warrior: Yea, I have.
dubcnn.com: Yea? Are you gonna release that?
DJ Warrior: In the future I will, oh yea for sure.
dubcnn.com: Thats tight man. Its about time people outside the South show love
for Screw.
DJ Warrior: Yea man.
dubcnn.com: You got a real diverse influence.
DJ Warrior: Yea I do, I love music, I listen to different types of music, ya
know.
dubcnn.com: Thats good As far as emcees, who were your favorites?
DJ Warrior: Pac, Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z, E-40, Crooked I, Kurupt, Outkast, N.O.R.E.,
the old Ice Cube, Talib Kweli, Mos Def...
dubcnn.com: Oh thats a nice list You ever gonna do some shit with E-40?
DJ Warrior: We working on it, he's cool peeps.
dubcnn.com: Yea...Thats my favorite rapper ever
DJ Warrior: Thats whats up, he's nice.
dubcnn.com: Yup Who do you want to work with?
DJ Warrior: Shit, anybody that's hot period. I don't really care where they
are from ya know.
dubcnn.com: I got you So whats the next project we can expect from you?
DJ Warrior: Well, I'm dropping Cali Untouchable Radio Pt.4, called "Llife
After Deathrow" it's a Crooked I mixtape. Also, Ill Street Dues Pt.3 with
Talib Kweli and the Westcoast all stars next month. And also next month, Cali
Untouchable Radio will be on Sirius Satelite radio we just gotta show on
there. It's me and my homie DJ STRONG, I will keep you updated on that we just
got that deal yo.

Kweli hosting AND a Radio show You're doing it big
DJ Warrior: Nah man we just working having fun with it ya know.
dubcnn.com: As you should...
DJ Warrior: Yea man, doing something different in the West as a DJ.
dubcnn.com: Yea...The Mixtape scene is finally blowing up here Do you feel,
its a little harder to get put on in L.A. or the West iself as a DJ, as
compared to NY?
DJ Warrior: Yea and we are not playing with this, we do this mixtape shit for
reals man. Oh yea (the mixtape scene is) real hard man. Our crew work 10 times
harder here man.
dubcnn.com: I always figured it was a little harder out here, since its so
spread apart..
DJ Warrior: Yea it is, I mean nobody in West do mixtape like us, we changed
the game around here yo. I mean, it's like no competition, we are setting up
the next generation ya know.
dubcnn.com: Thats real How do up and coming artists get on a DJ Warrior
mixtape?
DJ Warrior: Well, 1st of all you gotta be hot, or you know, a relationship, or
hearing bout somebody that's hot in the streets, many ways man.
