Dubcnn: We're right here with Furious! You got your new EP coming out on August 9th called "Movie Life". Before we talk about that though, let's go back in time for those who aren't familiar wih you. Who is Furious, where are you from and what do you represent?

Furious: I'm Furious from the Bay Area, representing Hip-Hop music to the fullest. I dropped my first project in 1993, followed by 4 more projects after that. My most recent album "Breaking Point" was a big challenge for me and a big accomplishment as well. The first single single off that album kind of changed my view on music and having a great time with it. That single was "Take You Down", featuring my man E-40, Rick Rock and Stres from The Federation. That was the changing point in my life where I realized that this was supposed to be about fun and it brought me back to that again.

Now the newest project, which is the "Movie Life" EP, we just dropped the video to the title track "Movie Life" and I got the new single off the EP with my man J. Valentine, that one's coming out real soon.

Dubcnn: You've had the chance to tour with a couple of notable artists, tell us about that.

Furious: I've been blessed with the opportunity to open up for a lot of the people that came this way and I got to jump on the West Coast tour with Pitbull, which was the experience of a lifetime. It put me on a different page and a different focus to try to tackle this. It was the most fun I've had in a long time, I can tell you that.

Dubcnn: What happens on a tour with Pitbull?

Furious: I'll tell you that's a hard working man, much love and respect to Pitbull. I learned just watching him, that's a hard working man. I like to follow in those foot steps.

Dubcnn: You're from the Bay Area, and a lot of times Bay Area artists are quick to be categorized and put in a certain box. When I listened to your EP, I realized that with you it's kind of hard to do that, your music sounds universal. What sound do you go, what's the way that you approach music?

Furious: I know that there is that stamp on the Bay Area, but I never really looked at that as a situation. To me, there's so much good music out here, so much diversity, I love what's coming out of here, especially right now. Personally I'm really into the feeling-music. I like to have a good time with it but one of my main things that I get caught up on is the feeling music that just grabs you by the heart. That's what I work on most.

I'm an old school guy at heart, so I just do what I feel and I might just go in there and rock on something with a little bit of rock music on it, or something that I haven't touched on. To me, it's about challenging yourself and trying something new every day. I never put a finger on the sound when I go into the studio, I just go in there with the mind state of making the best possible song that I can. The feeling that comes out of it, I always duplicate it on another song and then I pick the best out of the two!

Dubcnn: You just dropped the video to the title track off the EP, "Movie Life", tell us about the concept behind the video for those who watch it?

Furious: It's pretty much what everybody knows. Granted, we all wanna be in a situation where we live this good life, making a living off of music, which is the ultimate goal. I kind of took that and imagined myself in that situation, if I was living how I really wanted to be living. Not to say that women, cars and money is my focus, it's just that that was what everybody was expecting to see.

I just played an alter ego character that really was supposed to be me and I balanced the situation between the two characters, imagining myself in that character and living this big movie life. But truthfully, everybody has a little bit of that character inside them, and that's what I was trying to touch on. No matter how much you're around this fancy lifestyle, everybody still got a little bit of that character in the video in them.

Dubcnn: So this EP is going to be leading up to your official album "Everyday Counts"?

Furious: The album is called "Everyday Counts" and it's pretty much ready to go. I've been working on two of the main songs I plan on pushing off the album and my goal is to put out as much music as possible. I was always one of those guys that took a lot of time on an album - which I still do - but this time I'm taking less time, by just putting more hours of work into the studio so that I can release my music for the people. The album is pretty much ready to go, but I wanna put out some more music and get a feel for what I'm doing next before I drop it. I'm looking at the top of the year right now.

Dubcnn: Which artists would you like to be compared to? Or which comparisons would flatter you?

Furious: You know what… There's so many good artists out there, you're putting me in a tough spot.

Dubcnn: People who's songs you hear and you're like "Man I wish I made that song!"

Furious: One of the persons I really respect is E-40 out here in the Bay, just soaking up the game from him and listening to what he had to say. That's one person that I really look up to. He took a situation and built it from the ground up. I'm hoping to experience some of that myself.

On the other side of the map too, one of my favorites as far as musical talent that I think reached crazy heights is Nas, for sure. I've always been into his music since the early 90's and I listen to stuff like that and I'm just blown away. There's two artists for you, right? *laughs*

Dubcnn: No that's perfect. You got the EP dropping August 9th and the album "Everybody Counts" coming after that. Is there anything else you'd like to let everybody know?

Furious: Keep Hip-Hop moving, I hope to give you guys a lot of good music that you can feel, so look out for your boy!
